Do a search mate, there are huge amount of threads on the same topic.
with regards to this S3. they did two outputs over the years. Both were morepowerful than the GTI. The lowest was 210ps, the highest 225ps. They also remap to the same output as the GTI remaps make.
-
The s3 will beat you off the line all day long due to the Quattro. but they are heavy.
they run 210bhp standard (in the 1999 model) and remaped have around 255wbhp.
So a trip to your local Revo dealer will wipe the smile of said audi drivers face.

biggest initial bang for youre buck will be a remap
-
Look up AMD they are right by Lakeside shopping centre :happy2:
-
Alternatively you could trade in the GTi for a 2000 S3 and spend the difference on petrol driving around essex to find the cheeky pest!! :happy2:
Seriously though mate, as above, I went for a stage 1 and was blown away by the difference over standard.............but now it's time for stage 2 me thinks!!
-
i got a GIAC map for my edition 30... took me to 310bhp and 300 ft/lb of torque..... fun!!!!! bye bye r32s and bye bye s3's lol
-
thanks guy thats made me feel better lol
im gonna book it in at amd this weekend as they said they can remap it to 260/268 bhp for around the £500 mark :happy2:
hopefuly this should do for now antill i can afford a downpipe and exhaust system????

I'm no expert on these things but that figure is stage 2 territory from a K03!! :surprised: You ain't getting that from a remap alone.......
To achieve 260+bhp you are talking an Intake and a hi-flow downpipe and sport/decat.
-
One of the best and tested routes is a Bluefin Superchip stage 2 with Full system (sport cat) Non-Res Milltek and a fast flow filter, should give you enough to stay with the S3, should give about 260bhp, some do much better on dyno.
Any horsepower you want above this you'll need to get the ED30 turbo, cam and upgrade the fuel pump - probably just better to buy an ED30 if your going that route but it will give you an option to go 300bhp plus.
Hope that helps :fighting:

You need your ears cleaning out OR they........LIED :signLOL:
I'm sure my mate has those figures but hes got a full milltek and uprated fuel pump and intake.
-
thats what AMD do. they are full of crap like that IMO of course. tried getting me to buy a miltek cat back because it'll gain me 10hp on its own. They say all sorts to gain custom. Id rather go JKM were they are brutally honest about performance. no inflated figures etc

Mmmm, not sure about Bluefin tbh, over on the Briskoda site Shark Performance is very highly thought of.
Power wise I know of a few members running 270+bhp from the K03, beyond the DP and intake, you will need a HPFP and possibly and intercooler but up to 280 bhp 300 lb/ft torque is still achievable, having said that 340 bhp is not unrealistic from the ED30. :happy2:

:signLOL: people go on here to help each other out with intelligent comment not start some monkey court drama over every piece of advice - why would I lie or be hard of hearing, these are authenticated figures not unrealistic dream bhp's plucked from the back-end of some idiot. Please think before you make silly accusations that are unfounded and uneducated - 'my friend' type arguments do not constitute fact in absolutely most circumstances so shut up.
Please read the dyno chart attached or go to www.superchips.co.uk - now go Laugh as loud as you want or LOALAYW if that makes more sense to you.

Now now people. Back to the topic. 300 bhp is possible from a ko3 with enough bolt ons and revo stage 2+!! I have one :driver:

The way I read this AMD have told him he'll get 260-268 with a re map alone......... :rolleye:

I'd check the condtion of your DV first to make sure there are no splits in the diaphragm, mine was shot and you could hear a sound like air escaping from around 3k rpm upwards, it affects the performance massively too, I read an old copy of Volkwagen Driver mag the other day and a chap who had his mk5 GTI on the dyno was only making 160bhp, turned out it was down to a torn DV!
-
Wow, that's good going Trick, I was only saying 260 with the stage 2, full exhaust and filter system and I still got shouted down with a LOL! Shame.
Do you get any momentary flat moments towards the end of the power delivery, had it on another car that was on to higher boost due to the fuel pump? Good going though Trick.
-
Good point MPS, worth noting there was an OEM upgrade DV that some of the earlier cars won't have (not sure on years, will check) which is a cheap first stop check. The earlier versions were prone to failure, hence the upgrade I suppose.

It's a K03s on the 8L S3's K03 is in the A3's when i had mine RR'd it made 255 at the wheels, 99% sure it was bhp and not lb/ft. that was on a Revo stage one with a 007p DV and no other mods.

I think you got your wires crossed there fella, I'm pretty confident Apollo was referring to the op's comment about AMD being able to give him 260-268bhp from only a remap!
He certainly wasn't having a pop at your comment, which is accurate, imho. :happy2:
-
It's only 5th and 6th gear that you can really tell that the ko3 has given up as it can't boost any mor don't get me wrong it's still pulling really well but just seems abit flat. But 2nd and 3rd are just mental and 4th is some where in the middle. If you bolt enough mods on to aid fueling and air intake temps then that sorts pretty much most them out!! You won't be disappointed :driver:

8L s3 is a k04. K03s was fitted to the mk1 Octavia vrs, golf gti aniversary and a few others.
-
I thought so to, 8L and the later 8P are both K04, iirc so is the MK1 Cupra R (but don't quote me on that!! :driver:

Funny you say that... a quote from an email sent to my brother from AMD essex when he enquired about getting a remap on his Ko3 Gti...
"The Stage one remap on the 2.0 TFsi is awesome and totally transforms the car. The gains are around 60-65bhp and 70-80 lbft of torque. The car will be much quicker throughout the rev range, improved throttle response and all round drivability. When driving around normally you should see a gain in MPG too, this is because of the added torque. The price of this is £499.95 inc vat and also includes a rolling road run with before and after graphs."
Really achievable?
-
they said they can remap it to 260/268 bhp for around the £500 mark
The shoot down was posted because the reply says that the 60bhp gain can be done for £500
JKM will be doing my car soon, and they were upfront and honest and said i will gain
30 ish bhp for just over £500 with a stage 1 revo

Tbh I think this is a far more realistic expectation, mine was remapped by Angel Tuning, and they quoted between 230-235 bhp, and an increase of 50ish lb/ft torque, for the stage 1 software.
-
I have same issue, alot of places state 300-310 for stage 1 on the ED30... JKM have stated 280ish, which is what cars with stage1 have seen on their rollers... I'm just saving up... ;)

JKM all the way, good honest reliable advice :happy2:

Disconnect the battery for 30mins or so. reconnect, reset revo with select plus (it wipes settings)(maybe other remaps too?). It should then feel better.
im scheduled to do it this weekend. i sit in so much traffic car gets lazy! :booty:

Blue Fin gives you 41 bhp though, so why not get that one ?

Because the blue fin isn't as aggressive on torque as the revo

To Pagey1255 and apollo13, looks like I may have got some crossed wires there so my upmost apologies. Good start that then! :embarrassed:
Not a spokesperson but having used the product it does what it says on the tin, and very well.
The tune has been set at reasonable expectations for the engine and longevity of all the other components on whatever stage you want to go to, add to this the ability to update, change and turn off a map from your driveway makes it a fairly good option. Stage 1 @ 241 and 2 @ 260ish is pretty good. I can't comment on the other upgrades as not tried them but from the forums they all sound like it's horses for... and all that.
As we know you can go higher but I crunch the miles so I'm airing on the side of caution, when it doesn't commute it will get the full treatment.

that is what i gained from my revo remap on my golf gti, 30 ish bhp and the car feels so much better for it, and as mentioned in a previouse post, sort the dv out mine was shot and only made 140 bhp on the before run due to this,
