Post by: cos im worth it on March 16, 2011, 10:26:49 pm
Hi guys, im Mark and new to the forum, im on my second golf now, just traded my 51 plate gt tdi in for a 57 plate gt sport tdi, loving the car and been buying bits and bobs and been thinking about new head unit with nav etc on it and i wondered if any of yous guys had bought one or heard anything about these head units    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260723387946&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT     looks very good with looking like standard unit but with all the bits on, or does anyone have opinions on a better unit maybe out of top spec VW, thanks Mark.

I'd avoid those head units. You can get an RNS510 for the same price.

Why, whats wrong with them?  They seem to have more output power than the RNS's at 4x45w

I'm all about OEM really, some people over on uk-mkivs have put them in and have been pleased with the result but for the same price the RNS510 does a similar thing (minus the phone).

but doesn't the RNS510 only have 4x25w?  Surley that could make a big difference with sound quality when wacking up the volume.  I know what you mean about OEM stuff though but I still went for an Alpine.

to be honest I dont turn my RNS up much beyond third volume otherwise I come out the other end of a drive half death, its all horses for courses sometime functionality is more important than outright power.  Plus you can hear your engine and exhaust better

I got one of these a few days ago http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170609570284&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170609570284&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT)

fits straight in except i needed an aerial adapter from the local audio shop which cost £5, really pleased with it upto now
