Just got my edition 30 about 2 weeks ago after owning a mkiv 1.8t. I love the car so far but after looking on this forum i already want to start buying things :jumping:
I really want to get the car remapped but have been reading up about the expense of replacing the clutch on a dsg and was just wondering if anybody has any idea how long the clutch will last! Mine has done 48000 miles, will it be ok with a remap??
Thanks in advance, Chris.

Hello and Welcome :happy2:
You would be best posting a separate question in the main section, but if your's is a DSG then a stage 1 remap should be fine, it's the manual car's (espically with stage 2 and above) that are experiencing the clutch limitations
I have run a stage 1 superchips map for 20K and the for the last 6k a stage 2 map with no issues to date.

Cheers for the quick reply. I have been looking at superchips but quite fancy giac?
I had heard mixed things about the dsg, some saying that the clutch will last the life of the car and others saying about 60k :surprised:

Welcome to the forum Aparoon
As with anything you read you need to reference it against other pieces of information to get an informed decision, it is the internet afterall.
So far to date there has been no reports that i know of that blames to much torque for ruining DSG clutches even the few that we read about lately on manual cars are open to debate as they may have just been unlucky and had a crap clutch from the factory, as there have been a few clutches gone on standard cars with low mileage.
In general the DSG box of tricks looks after your clutches as the electrics stop a lot of human error, it is a clever piece of kit. As long as you treat it properly and get it serviced at recommended intervals you should be fine. :happy2:

On the subject of mapping... I live in manchester, is there anybodylocal who could take me for a spin round the block just so i can get an idea of the difference between standard and mapped :driver:
