Hi folks im in the same boat as a good few who has suffered with corrosion on the front drivers side wing
I noticed the problem in november the paint had started to bubble so i took it to volkswagen stockport for a inspection he got his paint digi tool out and measured the paint depth on both wings they were a tiny bit diffrent in depth he said my car has had a paint job on one of the arches not a chance i said.
Anyway cut the story short i got knocked back twice  the car is 54 plate gti with 32k on clock and has been well looked after im mythed with vw so im going to get the wing sorted myself :surprised:
I just need to know what the job involves so it wont happen again and will it be costly its reflex silver
kind regards lee

Both my front wheel arches haveminor corrosion from paint flaking off. I have been quoted £180 to fix them both

When you get it repaired, ask for.
The rust to be bead blasted out.
The wing lip to be seam sealed.
Then of cause painted and blended to the rest of the bodywork.
The inside of the wings to be waxoyl coated.

anyone know a good bodyshop in the stockport or manchester area?
-
Why? Its under warranty, take it back to a dealer and get them to do it.

Be wary if you get VW Stockport to do the repair. They are part of the Inchcape group the same as my local VW Macclesfield dealer. They all use their Smith Knight Fay bodyshop in Audenshaw and they made an absolute mess of my car when they did my sill rust repair first time. See:
