Good Job we have an Aircraft Carrier and Harrier Jump jets to launch from them. Will make the job so much easier!!!
Hang on a minute......... :fighting:

You haven't got a single one left????
It's hard to be an empire with no way of defending it :fighting:
-
Not been an Empire for many a year Danish, just paying the price for it now. :chicken:
-
I can see this situation escalating pretty quickly and the UN/EU getting sucked in to a possible war.
Anyone know exactly what kind of forces Gaddafi has?
How many planes, tanks etc?
-
Sorry John. Not got that to hand right now.
-
.
Just send in that Vulcan to scare the sh!t out of Gaddafi :fighting:
I'm not sure how much of a long term war it'll be, Hurdy - Most of the Arab states are on the UN 'side' in this I think.

They have all of our old ones ! Thats why Prince Andrew was best friends with them because they paid so much money into our defence companies.
QuinteQ who are a huge defence provider once told me Libya was their 4th biggest customer !
They have some good kit but wether they know what to with it as well as we do is a different matter !
On the basis of us being involved we are due to launch from Cyprus ! with the American 4th Flotilla operating from the Med !
Ring any bells, us and America with the littler countries from the UN ! and Russia, China etc not willing to be involved !

She is fully serviced and ready to go. Has to leave Lyneham before the end of the month and find her new home so she could do Tripoli on the way.
-
they have an air force and air defence systems, but they'll be rendered useless by cruise missles way before the jets turn up for bombing runs.
The yanks have a their carrier fleet parked up there anyway, god knows how many subs are lurking there at this moment.
iirc they have now converted all out typhoons from air-air, to air-ground role now. So with that and the tornado, we have no air to air fighter capability. Good job we have the ARB league onside really otherwise we'd get our a$$ kicked

There's two US carrier groups sitting off the coast of Japan now; and frankly by the time it'd take the 5th Fleet to redeploy to the Far East there'd be no one left to save.
Interesting article on the BBC here about this and the US involvement of the UN.

If we invaded Iraq on the pretext of getting rid of a dictator we may as well be consistent...
Anyone know if our jets will fly out of Cyprus or Malta? The Frenchies have their own aircraft carriers, of course...

I have actually served as an officer in the danish reserve, and as sutch i was a Judge in the 1990 NECIC competition, it was quite interesting to see the difference in the way the countries educated their forces. Several of the NATO countries doesn't learn the privates to read maps, as we danes learn all levels of troops to be able to work as independent troops.
But we are still in the shadow of 1940. :sad1:
-
We will have a carrier going into the fleet by about March time next year if all goes well. Still no jets but we do have some rotary wing left.
In truth they don't really need us. The Yanks are itching to get in there just just wanted someone else to make the decision.
-
Come on now, the Sixth Fleet needs something to do! The Med just hasn't been as exciting since the fall of the iron curtain..

Well, the froggies have just fired the first shots of this no-fly (and apparently no-drive) zone.
-
Seems the US have not One, not Two but Three Submarines sat off the Libyan cost, no doubt all loaded with Cruise and Tomahawk Missiles.
With the US carrier task group, the French carrier task group and the two or three ships we have there they'll have to med berth along the coast soon as they'll have no where to go!!
-
Those Lesbians drive sh!t cars and most of them are white, which makes them look even sh!ttier!
-
Looks like the Yanks have started with the
Fireworks Missiles already.

Yeah, I bet they have. They have more cruise missiles than all the world's armed forces and then some. Thank God for the US of A. I love that country.
-
Just watched Al JaZeerah and they had a Pentagon live broadcast - More than 110 missiles loosed off this afternoon alone. :surprised:
-
wander if there any of these cutting about the libyan air space right now

They did say during the media brief that no US planes were in the air over Libya.
-
In violation of the no-fly zone. More than likely but who would know.
-
I thought the F-117 was retired? F-22 does that job now...
Loads of Canadian C/A-18s on the news footage, along with the Rafales and Mirages.
-
Forget the F117A. The Firm need to deploy their best secret weapon:
