Title: This forum's expensive !
Post by: Ed30-Abz on March 19, 2011, 09:45:11 pm
Right. Had my Edition 30 just short of a year now, so thought it was time to post !

As I'm an old codger (early 40's), didn't really think I would be changing anything in the car. Then I came across this forum & saw what you lot were doing - and changed my mind

I still get a thrill every time I get in it - love it to bits  :jumping:

Anyhoo, on top the mod's below I've got the OSIR C Frames & OSIR Carbon shift plate on order.

Would also like a stage 1 revo when I can afford it - 300 BHP

A few pic's below. Any comments (good or bad) welcome.

Firstly, my pride & joy :-

Cheers guys.

Still looking to add led rears, xenon headlights, milltek exhaust & remap when money allows me to

Would also like to have it machine polished at some point as the previous owner must have had a craving for carwashes  :fighting:

Hi & welcome Deedub.

Pretty new to this myself.

I have tended to look at other build threads & looked at any links they have to mod's they have made.

Here's a few for you anyway :-

I'm an old codger (early 40's),

Wait until you meet Robin, He's almost as old as Yoda! (though likes to give the finger.....)

Nice to see that there are older people with GTI's and that they aren't just seen as chav cars.

Absolutly agree, glad there is some older people on here  :drinking:

Don't think the gti can be classed as chav. Now the focus st/rs that's a different story.........

Got them from this lot - http://www.shinyautos.com/shop/index.php

However, I paid over the odds for them & not all of them were a good fit. My advice would be to take out the bulbs you are replacing, measure the length of them & search on ebay. That's what I did. You're only a couple of quid each & there's a good wright up on here on how to do it (let me know if you need it as I'm sure I still have the link)

Did someone spot Northsound on one of the pic's  :happy2:

Lovin' the novelty buttons!  :congrats:

Not seen carbon seat inserts before either. Where are they from?

And lastly, how did you mount the Bury screen? I've got that same model to fit and was going to stick it above the radio, but that's a decent spot for it.

Cheers.

Cheers. Got the inserts from ebay. They're still available - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280573117722&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

The Bury unit was put in by my local VW dealer.

Didn't fancy it in the middle beside the radio, so they suggested sticking it where it is now. Great piece of kit & can't really think of a better position for it  :happy2:

Cheers. Just wondering how it's actually mounted to the dash though. Is the mount for the screen just stuck on?

Yip, just stuck on - no screws involved. Been on for a year now - no problems  :happy2:
