Title: Ipod connection help please

I've got the factory fitted phone holder in my 05 GTI and was wondering is there any way of converting the connection on that to a Ipod connection?... Or anything else that would be of use?

no i believe you will need the vw ipod lead that plugs into cd change socket on the back of the unit.
there are many different ones on ebay cheap,which head unit do you have ?

What and just do away with cable for the phone connection and replace it with a lead from the back of the head unit? Its a rcd300

If you don't need the old phone hands free kit  yeah,

There is a VW iPod / IPhone  cable kit that plugs into the back of the unit
Where the cd changer would plug,this allows you to play your iPod iPhone music through the head unit.
There are plenty of aftermarket kits on eBay that work just as good if not better than the Gen VW kits

If your after the use of telephone and music from an iPhone I would suggest buying an MKI 9200
