Title: Silly question
Post by: mark01348 on March 24, 2011, 11:09:20 am
Well I didn't want to admit defeat so early into owing a GTI but I cannot remove the engine cover. I've tried yanking it but it feels like anymore and something is going to snap. Anyone with ideas?
Also how on earth do you remove the sidelights(front)? Thought my fingers were going to fall off

Cheers

When the engine is warm, the engine cover is easier to remove

Ensure you disconnect the air pipes etc, then pull firmly on the corners - its firmly on there so dont be afraid!

As for the sidelights, you need to pinch the connector and pull firmly!

There are walkthroughs, including a detailed attempt by me.
