Title: What car related activities do you have planned for this weekend.
Post by: Degudodger on March 24, 2011, 01:38:56 pm
So what car related activities do you have planned for this weekend?

On Sunday I will mostly be:
•   Replacing the passenger side Door mirror indicator lens as mine isn’t working (not cheap for what it is)
•   Reseating/replacing the rubber grommet where the bonnet release cable goes through the engine bay firewall into the cabin under the dash
•   Fitting some new headlights, ideally without removing the bumper.
•   Reset the service indicator
•   Coolant flush

One question. WRT the headlights. How do i remove the bumper inserts below the headlights?

I will be drilling out my old speakers in the passenger door and fitting some new ones!  And then spend the weekend driving round with half a car with good speakers and half with standard!  :rolleye:

I will be...

Polishing my new milltek up hopefully...maybe even fitting it!
Swapping over my can gateway
Looking into an interesting DRL setup
Washing the car  :signLOL:
Possibly wet sanding my headlights if I can get my hands on some Plast-X

How do you mean bumper inserts? Youll need to take the bumper off to fit the headlights as two of the mounts are down below the bumper level!

As for coolant flush...if its filled from factory its filled for life so you shouldnt need to flush it

Filled for life if its genuine VW coolant! If its cheap rubbish, then it needs to be changed

Most of the time it gets changed when the waterpump is done on cambelt change anyhow

Probably just washing the car. Maybe a trip to A1 to see if they can do anything about the damage on the powdercoated rim.

Had hoped to get the rvc sorted but not to be.

Maybe buy a few of those trim pieces that get knackered from the multiple times I've had to access the rns.

Sort out the music on the sd for the rns.

Mine will consist of the GTI getting a Timing Belt and maybe my TBE fitted if it arrives in time.

Meanwhile, i'll be down in Leeds visiting Darren to get my RCD510 and Can Gateway removed and the originals refitted and re-coded so I can sell my old Golf.

Matt

Having a go at painting a spare centre console to match my red leather interior, a bit poncy for some but fine by me! I'll post pics if it's good enough to use, strip it and try again if otherwise.

Searching for a good wheel wrench that won't scratch my rims when I use it,like the cheap arse VW one in the boot. Once I have one its off with the rims and a right good caliber clean.
I was also going to apply some new wax I bought but the ebay seller has let me down. Been waiting nearly a month and it was supposed to take 3 days.

Alex,

If I had know yesterday you were after some Plast-X i would have given you a bottle as I bought another in error at the start of the year.

I'm going to remove the bumper when i fit the headlights as there are a i also need to fit a new valance due to Badger related incident last night! :sad1:

Most of the time it gets changed when the waterpump is done on cambelt change anyhow

Coolant was last changed 18 months ago when the cambelt was replaced and there is nothing to suggest G12+ Coolant was used. I have 4 bottles in the garage so thought i might as well change it just so i know proper stuff has been used.

Thanks to a crushing hangover everything i wanted to get done on Sunday don't happen. I've not been out drinking since last year so maybe a 9am-10pm session while watching Rugby with 15k others was NOT a great move for me.

It was a great game thou.
