Hey folks,
I noticed today, well for a while i've noticed, but mainly today...!
When putting the fan on full blast (all the way round) hardly any air actually comes out.
If I press the AC button, so the light goes out, then its fairly powerful (still not amazing) but if the AC light is on, literally you cannot feel any air, you can hear it, but can't feel it from any of the vents.
I've had a new compressor fitted in January from the insurance company, and a re-gas, so not sure what's going on?
Or is everyones like that??

Nothing on this folks?
-
If you have VCDS, id get the Auto HVAC scanned. Sounds like on of the flaps might not be working properly.
-
OK - here is an update!
The weather was lovely today, I had a long drive from Manchester back home and the AC does not work at all.
If I turn it on (press the AC button so it's lit up) I get a short blast of cold air, then literally, a few seconds later, nothing at all (put your hands to the vent no air at all, yet it sounds like there is air coming through).
Yet, turn the AC off, and air comes flying through, although not as cold as AC would be...
I had the compressor and air con radiator replaced under the insurance last December, so have called them up and they are collecting the car next week to have a look, it's clearly something they've done.
Maybe they forgot to re-gas it?
Although it does make a strange 'buzzing/grinding' sound when the AC is on...! (Maybe a faulty compressor? Again - something they replaced so will need them to check!)

Hi Sean,
Maybe they never changed it in the first place..........quick patch up job??

Hi Sean,

Hi mate, I hope not! Sod's if they did! All the paperwork showed all new parts, but guess that only takes microsoft word and a printer to do that

I was going to say the compressor (as I had mine replaced, a Mk5 favourite fault) until you said this has already been replaced.
Does sound like its lacking gas if it does a short burst of cold air, then dies?
A re-gas wouldn't hurt imo but hopefully they'll do that if they're taking it back in

Which vw dealer did the work?
-
They reckon they did all the work, and would have regassed it, yet said it might have a leak!
... It never had a leak before it went in, so if it's leaking they better fix it!
It was done by an Insurance repairer in January mate, not a VW dealer.
Does the compressor make a strange noise when the AC needs regassing?
-
Hmm, may be worth getting the car vcds scanned to see if it picks up anything.
Do you stay in Manchester?
-
No, essex mate, I was just up there for work for a day, I have VCDS so will give it a scan at the weekend prior to them collecting it next week.

This has gone in for repair last week ( under warranty, as the repairers in Dec supposedly changed all AC radiators / compressor etc)
The problem is, when the AC is on, and fan temp on the 'LO' Setting, the fan no longer comes through the vents, even on full blast (yet it sounds like its muffled through the back of the dash) yet if you turn it to 16 Degrees temp or higher, it does come through! When the AC is turned off, the fan works at any temp and any speed.
So far they have said they have changed the Fan motor (Really - I thought that was a dash out job?) and an 'electronic switch' and so far, have not managed to fix it!
Any ideas what it could be, I shouldn't have to HELP a VW garage but you know what it's like sometimes...!
