Title: 2nd Key adding - definitive answer?
Post by: SeanyK on March 27, 2011, 09:24:40 pm
Hey folks,

I am just getting round to sorting a few bits out on the car that have been put to the bottom of the pile due to other mods etc! Anyway now it's time!

I have just ONE key for my GTI, however, I bought a brand new flip key, with blank transponder, and had the key cut to match my key.

Obviously, this still needs the immobiliser programming to the new key.

So, can this be done via VCDS? I know the remote pairing can be done using the lock button etc but I mean actually programming the transponder.

I remember using VCDS and seeing a list of keys programmed to the car, but I am worried about removing them, just in case none of the keys work anymore! Just think VW will probably charge the earth for this though...

Thanks.

I don't know about that Lee :rolleye:

But if Sean has Vag-commander he would be able to find the pin on his car, which would enable him to at least match the existing key, just would need to try the new one.
if your worried about doing it, do the key matching in the VW dealers car park.  And drink their coffee:signLOL:

:signLOL: Right on cue Ed. I'm sure Sean can get his SKC so no problems there.

I wouldn't drink the coffee in my local stealers
