Hi guys, just seen a mk5 golf 2.0 gt tdi on ebay and wondered if anyone could tell me the difference between that and a mk5 2.0 gt sport tdi? only things can see is little things, badged up as gt on front and back as apossed to the sport which has gt sport on front and 2.0 tdi on rear, sport has darker tinted windows and the front grill is gloss back and gt is body coloured, thats all can see so wondered if was any other differences?

I know you get a 140bhp and 170bhp tdi sport. Are any of the letter's on the back where it says 2.0 'TDI' red?

yeah mate there is 140 and 170, no my gt sport is a 140 so no red i on the badge. both the gt and gt sport were 140 ones.

lookout for the exhaust i think with the exhaust is the 170 bhp one :happy2: no exhaust means 140 bhp i think not 100% tho

GT Sport is the face lift of the GT, they wanted to make the GT's look sportier so have changed the front grille, upgraded to 17" alloys as standard, and have twin tailpipes at the back as opposed to the discreet tailpipes. Both GT and GT Sport carry the 140 and 170 bhp engines, although you rarely see the GT with the 170 engine.

Thanks i just wondered what the difference between the Gt and Gt Sport was. not much then lol  :smiley:

There is quite a bit, the GT Sport is the facelift version and looks much sportier.

GT (looks very regular and like any other Golf, fogs are a bit of a give away as most "normal" ones dont have them)

I believe these wheels were the optional extra ones, not sure though

Cheers Alan, the thing that confused me is there is GT models on 06 plates with same grill as Gt sport but body coloured not black, same wheels, but badged on rear as GT instead of the 2.0 tdi the sport has, ill try find link for one mate.  :smiley:
