Title: MFD2 : What's the latest maps

Hi there. Thinking of buying an MFD2.

Whats the later version of maps that I can use with this system & where can I get them from?

Are you sure your not thinking about MFD3 there Alex.

The OP is asking about it's predecessor the MFD2.

I used to have an MFD2 carl  :happy2:

Latest maps for both units is V7, though 'officially' the MFD2 maps are called 2011

The maps are actually available from the Teleatlas website a lot cheaper than from VW. When I last had my (soon to be sold) MFD2 fitted in the car, I purchased a 2009 (then the current year) Europe wide DVD disc for £99, when the dealer wanted £170 for the VW branded disc.

Works perfectly and it was TMC enabled for the traffic management. Not sure how much they cost now.

Alex updated mine for me and now ive got the 2011 maps and they are much better!  :happy2: TMC is excellent!

I did buy a disc off ebay but it was the wrong one for the rns 501!!!!??

Definatly the DVD one got it working once with the scrached disc till it stopped reading it! Vw want £180 plus vat for a new one :rolleye:

There is, up to V30. Makes it more stable, adds more functionality to sat nav etc. You got a pic of your unit so I can check its version? Silver buttons or black. Does it have a MUTE button in the middle?

It has silver butons but not sure about the mute button my wife is out in the car at the moment so can not get a picture it in a 2007 car if that helps?

I didn´t understand if you have the dvd or cd version of the RNS MFD2.
Can you please tell me what is your actual software version and what is your coverage maps?
