Looking for a car at the moment and I'm getting a bit confused at the moment as to the colour of the leather interiors mk5 GTI's come with. In pictures some look black, whilst others look mid-grey similar to the dash plastic colour. I saw one picture today which looked like it had a black dash & steering wheel but grey leather seats.
Was there a black leather interior, and a grey one? did they change the colour in a particular model year? or is it just very strong flash photography?
thanks in advance...

Im pretty sure there is just one dark leather interior (beige is the other). Must be due to different light in the photos.
Don't have leather so I'm not 100%.
-
It's dark grey, there has never been black leather in the mk5 gti.

thanks, maybe it's a trick of the light in photos, I should go and see one for myself to see if I like the colour, was kind of set on the tartan seats but don't want to rule out a mechanically good car due to the seat colour,
This car on ebay illustrates it well, there's two pictures of the interior taken from the same angle, one is grey, the other black!

Hi mate, it is grey. The first photo shows the true colour. The other looks darker due to the light.

Thanks, looks like I'll keep looking for a cloth interior as I think I prefer the check-pattern :happy2:
-
or you could buy leather and you would probably find a good few people who would swop the there cloth for leathers and maybe even some cash
-
Or buy an Edition 30 and have both! :happy2:

Looks like 2 pictures from 2 different cars to me? Look at the car mat cover, and fan alignment?
Might just be my eyes, they could've got this pictures mixed up with another golf?

I was a bit like u when I was looking really wanted tartan aswell and didn't like the look of leather in pics, but when I saw leather in the flesh you realise how nice it is really is high quality and adds something extra I think, plus heated seats are a treat glad I got leather now

I can see what you mean about the paper mat but if you look at the ripples in the leather on the seat it has the same patern so just taken at different times.

I've had both and much prefer the leather, great quality!
-
Best go and see both then I suppose, just need to get my self in gear and sell the MX-5 to fund it...
-
I got leather in mine. much prefer it. on the cloth interior ones the majority I looked at nearly all had issues with the bolster collapsing and having holes in them
-
There do seem to be an awful lot of worn drivers bolsters out there...
-
I really liked the quality of the leather finish in my old TT but the interior in my GTI puts a smile on my face, excellent finish...
