Post by: WILCOMAN on March 31, 2011, 07:49:43 pm
Hello from an OLD bloke whos had many VWs in the past and who has just bought a 07 golf GTI with dsg, winter pack, sunroof , and black in colour.
I hope I could ask you all a question about changing my rcd 300 standard strereo for an rns51 sat nav.
1 How hard is it to get the old unit out.
2 Will it be a straight plug and play fitment <I HAVE BEEN TOLD I NEED A VERSION B UNIT FOR MY YEAR OF CAR>
3 Are they fairly reliable.
I just hope you can help me with the above.
Regards George.

It's not plug & play unfortunately. It will need someone to code it for you who has vcds. Lot of helpful people on here who can do it for you.  :happy2:

Oh yeah, and welcome!  :signLOL:

Hi and welcome.

I've had a version B RNS510 for something like two years now and it's still great. The new firmware and map updates have really helped and mean you can have SDHC support and 7-digit postcode entry.
