Thanks guys, yeh won't bother with modding this one, maybe just a supercharger lol! I've taken out the gordini mats and swapped em for some crappy normal ones just to keep them immaculate and that's the only mod for me!

looking really good in the white with those wheels NB07, way better than the blue ones with the halfrauds style wheels

Thanks andy, yeh those wheels with the blue inserts do look a bit naff I think deako ripped them off his straight away. The speedlines do look cool they're not gloss not really Matt either but like a satin silk finish  :happy2:
Will be about another 500 miles till I can thrash her

Cant argue with 37mpg.  i think this VAG 1.4TSI and 40mpg+ is a fable lol.  My first tank i managed 27mpg but i was quite abusive to the car.  the second tank driving normally i managed 37mpg over the whole tank, that was around town though.  Not tried a long motorway journey yet

I averaged about 25mpg in my 197. They drink loads once you start tickling the limiter! Supped a litre of oil every 1000 miles or so, too.

My car is shocking. I dont see over 25mpg ever. Maybe 28mpg if i drive like an absolute fanny, but whats the point in that. Actually, in a recent trip to Devon, i blew £130 just getting there and back from Birmingham with a bit of petrol left when i got home for the shopping.

LOL. Id have swapped mine.

Mines up for sale, but dont expect anyone to buy it. I just need to get a Mk2 to stick in the garage to satisfy my VW itch.

Perhaps Nick, put your Eddy in the garage for a year, and drive the renault. See if you come to the same conclusion. At least then your back in a Decent GTi if you cant live with your new purchase

Its not that i cant live with it. Its an absolutely astounding car, and the kit it comes with as standard puts VW to shame. However, since i was 19 ive had about 20 Dubs, and just miss them.

i know what your saying phil but i just wanted a change and cant really afford to keep it in the garage so im gonna be flogging it off cheap in the next couple of weeks. i did love dsg but its nice to get into an old school flavoured hot hatch, i dont want anything too sensible and this is perfect for me, the polos etc just didnt do it for me. if i had the money i would have liked an R or TTRS or porsche for that money, but for half the price i got a really fun car that drives amazingly and wont depreciate anything like my gold did! when the DSG Eddys were sold for 25k+ new plus how ever much on finance and now only worth 12k that is a big hit! the clio should be worth 10-11 in 3 years even though its a renault. people that think VWs and beemers etc dont depreciate are mad it seems to me that what ever you buy you need to half its value in 3 years, aslong as your prepard for that its fine  :happy2:

oh and as you know i wasnt the first keeper but i have taken considerable expense with paying virtually 20k for the car plus all the other bits.

Your old car is worth far more then 12 k Nick, its just Price of petrol is not helping to sell a car like this currently.

Sales of fuel efficient cars are whats selling currently. For a car thats 4 years old, i still think 50% resale value isnt that bad (ie the GTi).

The renault will be worth less then you think mate. It would of lost 40 odd% of its retail price, which i have no idea what they are new.

A quick calculator  :happy2:

http://www.whatcar.com/car-depreciation-calculator/results?makeId=18501&modelVersionId=19579&editionId=35007

it is bloddy slow to load that link page  :fighting:

dont worry ive taken my time over this steve not like i just jumped in without working it all out. i got a very good deal on it with a healthy discount that is unheard of with VW dealers plus 0% finance which is nice. works out cheaper to by new that a year old one! then after 3 years its only had one (careful!) owner and is hopefully a desirable car being so rare it will be worth a bit more than the link you made as its got cup chassis and speedlines that are sought after and i know of only one other white one :happy2:

the golf R will half its price plus i would have finance costing about 3k!

   Year 0   Year 1   Year 2   Year 3   Year 4
Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 2.0 TSI 270 R 3dr   £31,095   £24,025   £19,650   £16,000   £12,775

when/if i can afford to loose that kind of money then i will probably do it just not at the minute :happy2:

Great little cars these nick   :happy2:  i had a play with one a few weekends back on some country roads and its was really well composed around the twisties.

Ive seen some great deals on finance and it would certainly free up a load of cash, whats the insurance like?

I was offered £12k for mine in November. 4 months after i paid £18k for it brand new! ;) The RRP was £21k. I didnt get the best deal, as some of the dealers started selling the Gordini off for £16,500 after we bought ours. Renault are worthless second hand.

Like the car fella :happy2: Looks so much better with the speedlines.

Ive had my 197 for just over 3 weeks now and to be honest I did miss my GTI to start but after pressing the go pedal quite hard down a few twistys I soon changed my mind and I havent looked back since   Ive been trying to buy some mods for it but I really cant think of anything I really want to do to it. I had to force myself to buy some spacers and its booked in to have its center box removed tomorrow other than that there aint anything I really want to do   Where as with my GTI I could think of a list as long as my arm without even trying.

with this in mind it would have made more sense for me to buy one of these than the fabia.  Instead ill throw cash at it to make it faster and go round bends better.  So all the money i saved over the clio are down the sh!tter.

i think if the clio had more straight line punch it would be immense.  the chassis is more than capable. another 20hp and more midrange oomp and it'd be almost unbeatable on track and the road

Very reasonable for a whopping 2bhp power increase! :signLOL:

The akropovics are pricey but they sound amazing on the RS200.

I dont think the Akrapovic is anywhere near £1k worth. It doesnt sound any different from my car with the center box removed which cost me £40.  :happy2:

When i took these vids it was still winter. So it was windy and cold.

Stationary.

nice deako, i saw that before but it does sound good would like to hear it in the flesh before you get rid :happy2:

thanks for the positive comments guys

yes james the insurance was fine i got it a bit cheaper by moving to sky from greenlight and the excess was less but it was a bit more than the golf but that because its brand new i guess. just under 700 rather than 550 or something on the golf.. plus i think theres been a small increase lately :happy2:

Mine is getting removed on Sat, was meant to be done today but they couldnt fit me in grrr!!!

Im just hoping its not to loud for some reason all I can imagine is a old Nova with a cherry bomb sound in my head even though it does sound sweet in the vids. But hey for £50 im willing to give it a go.

You cant now. Well, privately you can. Mines advertised at £16k. But Glass's value the car at £16,400. Unfortunately, work use CAP and also as its a specialist sale, they would just fire it through the auctions and hope for a buyer.
