Not sure if they are  diesel or petrol clocks as Im not up on that part of the part number but 974 clocks can only be done by a specialist, unless they come with the SKC code??

Look for clocks ending in 970 971 or 972 and I and a few others on here can fit and code them.

I have the SKC Code and an eprom readout. Also have access to VAG-COM. They are from a Jetta TDI Highline i believe.

Possible ?

If you have the SKC then yes.

The VAG COM way of coding clocks is a little long winded though IMO.

Using VAG K+ CAN Commander to copy over the IMMO data is much easier and the only way I have done these swaps in the past.

Thats good, thanks for the info  :happy2:

At a later date i want to fit an mfsw from an R, will there be any issues ?

No issues at all.

You just need to make sure you have the correct slip ring, steering control module and airbag harness  :happy2:

HAPPY DAYS ....................
Wish you were nearer, sound like you know your stuff. You have a build thread? Interested in the headlights you have.

Where are you mate?

As for my headlights, they dont make them anymore....only the halogen versions that don't turn or self level.

Mine use D2S bulbs like OEM Xenons.

My midline screen fades when its warm, if I just buy a set of TDi clocks off ebay can I just swap them around without any issues? Is the mileage stored elsewhere or do I have to change it?

No, the same rules apply when you upgrade any clocks. Even if its like for like the immobiliser info still needs copying over to the new clocks................but if your only swapping a midline for another midline (or highline for highline) you could just swap the front of the clocks over as the back part of the clocks contains the immo/mileage data.

Right guys, i have taken delivery of these clocks today. By the date on the outer casing looks like they have come from a 2007 car, Jetta Highline i believe.

Can they be fitted and whos near enough for me to go to ???

Thanks Steve

If you have the correct SKC of the new clocks then yes they can be fitted.

You'll need someone with VCDS and a good understanding of how it works, look in the VCDS members section for people near you.

Lee.

Just to add, I think the VCDS way you only get one shot at coding the new clocks with the immo data. So its all or nothing.

I might be talking B.S as I've only used the k+CAN method but I'll have a read up on the VCDS method and report back.
