just thought i'd join the club. yes i know i'm a very late starter to the club considering the Mk6 is out in weeks  however i'm about to pick up a black GTI on saturday, 06 plate 20k on the clock and i'm px my current motor which is a 57plate Golf GT Sport (170) :sleepy: never again will i buy a fast tractor  last few cars Golf Gt Sport, Focus ST3 (blue), Focus RS, Focus Zetec s  so i am looking forward to my first GTI. I did consider the R32 as my matey has one, however after suffering 25mpg in the ST and did'nt want to be spending my life in the pertrol station again. i've seen some mint GTI's on this page and will make some small changes, but this will be a first, so ideas please for some small changes to make the motor look and sound better, cheers chaps and hello :happy2:

looking at all of your motors i'll have a lot of hard work to keep up. I do love a nice clean car, so buying a black for the first time is going to test my Sunday morning cleaning routine, the wife thinks i'm sad for cleaning a car weekly, she has a mini which only sees the CARWASH :scared: The GTI i'm picking up only has the winter pack and the 18"s, so i've booked in a retro fit centre arm rest on tuesday next week, then from there some small upgrades :happy2: i keep thinking though, will it be fast enough, the last thing i want is a corsa vxr overtaking me  :angry015:

Welcome along Blondie, may need a remap on the GTi to fend off those nippy VXR corsa thingy's. They are quite quick.
Hope the GTi isnt as thirsty as the 25 mpg you were used too, depends on where you tend to drive but 28-30mpg is a good estimate.
Enjoy your car, you wont be disapointed. :happy2:

Fastest colour.............................
I may be so bold as to beg to differ! It is well known that the Steel Grey ones are sooooooooo Much faster that the Black or the Zanussi White ones.
Welcome and be prepared to spend........

well chaps first thoughts following picking up the GTI on Saturday. Negatives first, i know i've bought second hand, but come on redline Racing, make an effort and clean the bloody interior, i had to purchase some AG interior shampoo due to several food stains, food in a car, following this no bloody car mats, and one scratch along the front bumper  and finally, i'm a little disappointed with the throttle response,, i did expect a little more from the unit. j had the Focus ST and it gave so much more in note and response. Now the good, love the interior, you do feel like your in a more exclusive motor, then say the ST, love the steering wheel, i'm getting the centre arm rest fitted, a must, and a bonus i have the multi disc Cd changer. As for driving, as i've mentioned throttle reponse poor, however on those north yorkshire b roads this car is amazing fun :happy2: :happy2: and finally the fully refurbed 18" Monza's set the car perfectly, love em. i will endevour to get some pics, following the first cleaning session, the cars dirty already

just collected the car following having hte centre arm rest fitted. Worth the money i think  £300, started as £195 for the pack, £70 air ducts and £35 labour, with £10 for the hole left from the CD slot, as my multi changer is built into the unit. My wife thinks it's an expensive way to rest the arm :innocent:
