Hi
I have recently bought a MK6 flat bottom steering wheel without the multifunction to put on to my MK5 golf gt sport without multifunction. I have fitted it today but my horn doesn't work. Please can any one help and give me part numbers or advice.
Thanks in advance
Colin

you need the revision C slipring, what year is your car??
-
It's a 58 plate
-
What Airbag loom are you using?
Does it have a black plug?
-
It's a yellow plug ,on the mk6 wheel there is also a small black plug which I don't have anywhere to plug it into

That is the problem.
You have a loom from a MFSW
You need a loom without the black plug, try using your old one

At last got my horn working had to fit a new wiring loom to the airbag and that was it.thanks to everyone that helped especially Gareth at www.vwcruise.com check this guy out for retro fitting vw stuff he,s spot on :happy2:

Hey Colin, just resurrecting this thread!
So to fit a Mk6 Non MF wheel to a Mk5 Non MF manual car, then no mods are needed as long as you have the correct airbag loom?
I was under the impression that if you wanted to fit any Mk6 wheel (even Non MF) you needed a C revision Slip ring and an updated CH steering wheel control module..
I'm not too fussed by multi function as I have an aftermarket stereo anyway. If this was plug and play then I'd definitely do this mod!

If you want MF you need those 2 parts, and if you have CC you need the mk 6 CC stalk also :happy2:

Hey Danish, Thanks for the reply :)
I don't want MF, and haven't got it currently.. Will I still need the control module? I was assuming from Colin's post above that I wouldn't...
-
No, it's a straight swop
-
Damn. I've got the little black plug too in my non MFSW wheel. I guess this supplier in Portugal (where they all seem to come from) only has MFSW Airbags. Does anyone know the correct loom I need to fit onto a non MFSW mk5?
Thanks!
-
I have one sitting in my garage. Want to do a swap?
-
The loom on my MK6 air bag is 5K0 971 584 A which I assume is a multi function loom. So if I want to fit this non multifunction wheel to my non multi function Mk 5, does anyone know what loom I need? (part number)
Thanks again!
-
The part number is 5K0 971 584 is for a mk6 wheel without multifunction
I also have one if you want to swop
-
Yes please Eddie NL!
-
I'm half suspecting that 5K0 971 584 (Mk.6 airbag harness non MF) is the same as 1KO 971 584 (A/K) (Mk5 Non MFSW) and 5KO 971 584A is the same as 1KO 971 584 C (L) which is the harness for Mk.5 MFSW.
So basically, the harnesses are the same between Mk 5 and Mk 6 and that you just need either a MF one or a non MF one.
Which leads me onto the next assumption that my Mk 5 harness will fit my Mk 6 wheel!!
(so I might not need to swap)
-
They are slightly different the mk6 has a tubular connector that fits to the base of the airbag. This is not on a MK5 loom

sorry to ask the same question
i have a 2007 jetta without mfsw and i want a rocco wheel . are you saying that i might already have the loom installed to have mfsw ?
so is it best to order a mk6.rocco wheel with mfsw that way all thing will work and ill have steering controls ?
Thanks
-
Hey mate,
From what i can work out, if you don't have MFSW, you'll need a new steering wheel controller, and it'll need to be coded.
If you don't have MFSW, and you buy a mk6 non-MFSW, it'll bolt right on (if you get the correct airbag loom - I didn't, neither did Colin). Just make sure you insist the seller sells you the correct loom for Non-MFSW!

can't answer any tech questions but they do look good :happy2:

Looking good! Do you know if it's possible to prize off the Vw badge in the middle?
-
Isnt the badge attached to the airbag? I would be careful!

Looks nice, glad it is all sorted.
still find it hard to believe that sellers of these wheels send them with the wrong looms. I bought a MK6 MFSW and got a standard loom
