Just wondering whether I hit it or not.
Was in second gear, stayed in said gear on slip road, floored it to join traffic. Pull, pull, pull all the way to 7000rpm and that's it, no more pull.
Is 7k rpm the limit?

yes you would have hit the limiter. but there isnt much point in taking it past 6,100 as thats where the peak power is on a mapped gti. ed30 might be different though

On the GTI K03 cars I believe it's 6,800 rpm stock.
There's not so much power up there so I rarely go that far before shifting gear.
