Was out today changing my badges over to black, front VW is done, rear GTI is done but the rear VW has caused me a problem now:
Badge suffered from whiteworm anyways like so:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fa6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net%2Fhphotos-ak-snc6%2F207270_10150155531117839_545187838_6601275_5397491_n.jpg&hash=f86e70b207f4061233b1a5077fa4f978bf9601e6)
So peeled badge off with a card etc leaving the plastic handle behind exposed.
Bought a set of black badges on E-Bay, like I say front is done and happy with it, but rear badge is completely different:

Anyone had this problem? If so, what the hell do I do now lol

Looks like the black one is the ''new'' style version, made to stop the white worm. You'r orginal one is the type used when the mk5 was launched.Looks like you will need the whole new style boot handle.

That's true :happy2: I had the same whiteworm issue with my early mk5 badge and had to replace the complete unit for the later Mk5 version which I had masked and sprayed up in black before fitting it, you can also replace it for a mk6 3d type one which looks great :happy2:
-
How much does a whole unit cost?

I've just changed mine colour coded it, so I've got a spare.
I had to buy a new one because I use my car daily and wanted to do a gud job making sure each coat was dry before I wet and dryed it and then gave it another coat of paint took me over a week but it's looks loads better.
I'm gonna put it on eBay 2morra or you could make me a offer :happy2:

That badge desn't fit the mk5 golf at all :sad1:
I found that out after buying it, I also reported the seller to E-Bay regarding false info for which cars itfits, but E-Bay have done nothing, no surprise there and the guy is still selling them :stupid:
*SO DO NOT BUY IT!*

The best idea would be to get a professional spray shop to mask up your original badge and spray it :happy2:
