Title: RNS510 INSTALLED NOW HAVE A FLAT BATTERY <PLEASE HELP>
Post by: WILCOMAN on April 09, 2011, 07:41:50 pm
Hi everyone.
I had a go at removeing my old stereo and installed a second hand rns510 and everything worked all ok, But after going back to start my car tonight I found that I have a completely falt battery.
What I installed was a version B sat nav into a 2006 build 07 reg gti.
Any help or suggestions as how to go about sorting this out and how hard is it for a complete novice to do.
Thanks for reading George.   :sad1:

you need to upgrade your CAN gateway (1K0 907 530 AD). Loads of posts on here about it, its not a hugely difficult mod but you will need vagcom

Hi

here this is what you need

http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Touran-EOS-Scirocco-Gateway-f-RNS-510-12-Tasten-MFL-/370489597076?pt=Autoteile_Zubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item5642e69c94

If you come to me in Great Yarmouth, I can fit it for you and code the RNS for a small fee.

As said before im an oldish bloke who has not got a clue all ive got is a car stuck in the garage with a totally flat battery.
So should I have a go at burning this disc (and chance blowing up my rns) :signLOL:  putting it in the unit when the batt recharges or go to Gt Yarmouth for help. or go down to my local VW centre and get them to do it.
Or should I just refit my old unit and re-sell the rns510.
As you can tell I get fed up pretty quickly, but you chaps have been really helpfull.
Many thanks George

Hi
Like I said I'm willing to help you. I would suggest that you charge the battery and put your old unit back in the car till you have the new gateway.

VW will charge £££ss if they are willing to do it
The RNS is worth it and you won't regret it once it is sorted

Hi Ed and thanks for your reply.
So should I just order that gateway you suggetsed, The batt is now on charge and as soon as I can get it started I will give you a shout as and when the gateway arrives.
I will give you my email address and you can tell me how much you would charge me. barshampug@btinternet.com

Also would you be willing to meet me in Norwich and ill pay your expenses.
And the only days I could get to meet you would be on a wednesday or every other sunday as work commitments wont allow any other times.
Thanks for all your help George.
