My air con always smells terrible when I first use it in the spring, despite using it a few times over winter to try and stop this happening. I usually use the Comma air con cleaner from Halfords but this never seems to fully get rid of the smell. (Presumably that's why it always comes back.) For some reason the smell is far worse just after I turn the air con off for some reason.
Any suggestions on an alternative product / method that will get rid of the mould & smell once and for all?
Thanks.

VW offer a aircon service which does the trick. Other than that i think the only option is to use it more.

Have you changed the filter as it's a magnet for fungal growth.

^^^I remember the lady at the AG stand trying to hawk it to me last year at Inters. I took a leaflet, smiled and walked off. Don't think she was too pleased.

Used them twice and they were ok, now I use the Autosmart aromatek gets rid of all smells and the last 15min it does the aircon too.

Thanks all for the various suggestions.
I do change the pollen filter fairly regularly and it doesn't smell unless the air con has been on so I don't think the filter is where the bacteria is congregating. I might change the filter again and try the AG product this time to see if it performs better or worse than the Comma product.
