Title: Squeak coming from under engine - any ideas?
Post by: welikeaps on April 13, 2011, 03:37:28 pm
I have a squeak coming from the engine bay which sounds like tweety pie is stuck in there. I think its coming from the cambelt. Should i be worried? Car is less than 3 years old and only coved 24k.

thanks

Could be the tensioner. Mine had a similar noise, and the previous owner took it in and it was all replaced under warranty.

Is the drive belt a different name for timing belt or vice versa...? I have a similar sqeek, seems to be when the engine is under load, would that have been the same as yours

They are the same thing usually called the cambelt. There is a known issue with the cambelt tensioner which can squeak especially when cold.
