Title: Aarrgghh had my car key'd
Post by: Gtiain on April 14, 2011, 09:48:37 pm
Seriously pissed off but it's not as bad as it could have been. Ive got two scratches one on each side about 6 inches long. Can anybody recommend anyone who can sort it out for me in west Yorkshire area? Cheers

Keep telling yourself it's only a piece of metal... I found 2 new dents in my door last weekend - and that's with careful parking...

Chin up.  :happy2:

Not good, do you have pictures ?, does your nail catch in the scratch ?, i am assuming you thinking detailing can fix it as you put it in this section ?

Well I didn't really know which section to put it in  :confused:

Here are the pics;

Excuse the dirty car, it desperately needs a wash. Yeah my nail catches in it.  :sad1:

They can't be polished out. Too broad to even reduce the impact by polishing.

Respray. Or you can try touching up and polishing but it'll be messy and best left to professionals.

Its possible with a very careful touch up and wet sand with 3000 to flat it over and a machine polish you could get most of it, if not all back to a reasonable finish

I've seen that done on DW and it's not something I'd attempt myself!

Ouch  :sad1:

Depends where you want to take it, i can vouch for VW Harrogate, especially on a silver car as the colour is hard to match, if you want to stay away from delaerships etc.. ie ot to bothered by paint warranty then you could look at Higgins & sons in town, just off manchester road, turning near carnation. He does a lot of insurance work.. Number is 01274 723384, friend had a silver 4mo done there, spot on colour match.

Oh i'll keep a look out for you as im another local, in bingley  :drinking:

Dr ColorChips or scratch repair company is your only option.....

Looking at about £250-£300 for a company and £50 for colorchips kit i think....
