Only had my car just over 3 months and the deisel sound is getting louder in the cabin. Sort of sounds like a deisel sowing machine but I can only hear it at idle. Sounds like budgie chirps outside so I am off to vw to ask them to check the belts tomorrow and hope thats it!

The noise is mostly down to the direct injection our cars have but there have being a few that have got really loud and it's down to the timing chain on the right hand side of the engine looking at it from the front becoming slack and it requires new chain, tensioner and sprockets. Not a small job but again not mega ££££  :happy2:

Thanks Trick thats very helpful. I hope vw will sort this under second hand extended warrenty! My local vw dealer usually asks for 80 odd quid from memory to check the car and will deduct this if any work needs doing under warrenty - puts me off going but what can you do  :surprised:

also check the breather system, I had a tfsi in last week with tractor like noises due to the dipstick not being pushed in properly  :signLOL:

the engine note should change to a diesel like chug when the dipstick is pulled out, if note doesnt change then you may have a faulty pcv.

Now that's some positive crankcase ventilation!  :signLOL:
