Title: MkV Steering wheel air bag cover
Post by: animal on April 16, 2011, 12:57:41 pm
Could some one kindly check ETKA for me and confirm that the cover is available separately for the air-bag unit, and if so, please provide a part number and possible a price as well? Thank you.

I've never seen them separately, although I've not checked ETKA for this one.

Neither have I, which is why I'm checking it out - there's one on eBay but it's not cheap. I was thinking of trying the VW bodyshop to see if they had any from deployed air bags as it's only the badge I'm really after. Mine was scratched to buggery by the previous owner and it bugs me every time I get in the car.

I know a lot of parts on modern cars arent designed to be serviceable, but having to replace the entire airbag unit seems a little excessive. And they are very expensive (I'm not prepared to by an air-bag from eBay as my life literally depends on it)

If you have a moment to check it out, I'd be grateful.

Thanks - don't know if thats the same trim colour as the R32 or not? As far as I know the airbag units are generic right across the Golf/Touran/Eos etc. range.

If it's in decent nick, let me know what you'd like for it. Next question though, is how do I seperate the cover from the air-bag, if its even possible?

I just had a look on ETKA and it doesn't show the cover as coming seperate.

Thanks, but the photo I originally posted was pinched from an eBay auction. I was looking to spend slightly less that £75 on just a new badge for the steering wheel.
