Just started up my car and it says airbag fault?! Anyone got any ideas of what I should do or why it's come up? Cheers
-
VCDS to tell you what is at fault and if possible reset it.

Thanks. What could it be? Is anyone near Bradford who could check it for me? Darrens usually a bit busy now. :sad1:

Difficult to say Iain, under seat wiring looms have been an issue in the past.
Check the sticky in the VCDS section.

Thankyou. Is it best to turn it off or what? I'll have to do a bit of driving before I can get it sorted. If so is the the lock in the glovebox?
-
The lock in the glovebox only turns of the front passenger airbag (baby seat).
As Stu has said the under seat connectors are a problem, had the issue on mine after the missus hoovered the carpets :surprised:

You'll need VCDS to turn off the warning.

i had trouble with under the passenger seat airbag plug, i unplugged it gave it some contact oil and plugged it again. No trouble for a year now :happy2:

Is there any harm in just driving with the warning light or should I disable the airbag (how do I do that). I mean it's not going to go off if I go over a bump or something is it?!

Drop by if your in the area mate, I'm not usually busy on sundays.

Unbelievably, yesterday I had problems whilst fitting a Bury car kit. Basically I pulled too hard on the top vent section and the only way I could remove it to fit it together correctly was to disconnect all the cables including the airbag warning light.
You guessed it the system detected a fault on power up and I now have the same Airbag waning sign on dash and the obligatory bong. :-(
Will I have to visit a stealership or Indy to remove the fault?
You'd think the system if it's smart enough to detect a problem would be smart enough to detect also when it's working correctly. But it's probably a safety thing I guess.

Pop round to someone who has vcds. They can see what the fault is, as I'm sure your aware there is a few people on here with it. :happy2:
-
Well my warning light has now gone! Thanks again Darren, your a star! :happy2:

Yeps but I'm in Glasgow no one near I'm afraid. I know there is no fault it's just that I pulled the connector out to sort the upper vents.
I'll pop to an Indy early in the week they often don't charge to clear faults.

Speak to Golfman(Scott) mate he is in Dundee and travels to Perth every morning I'm sure he can meet you somewhere for some bear money? cheaper than and indy or dealer.
