Post by: janus909GTI on April 17, 2011, 04:37:39 pm
this is a really stupid question, but where is the leaver to open the bonnet?? i only got the car a week or so ago and havent yet had the need to get into the engine bay and im still waiting for the gti manual to be delivered (the dealer left it in his office)

anyhow, ive found a leaver on the right hand side in the drivers footwell, however ive pulled at it but it doesnt seem to do anything? its like really stiff....i feel as if i pull anymore its going to snap? is that the bonnet release??!!

It should "click" open, a bit like the door handle. If you're really having to pull on it, then there may be a fault with the cable itself.

if it doesnt click after pulling the lever, pull up a bit on the bonnet. I have had trouble with the release mechanism before, being plastic i will be looking to replace it soon.
