Hi Folks, quick one for you, when i go over a bumpy surface(pretty much everywhere these days) i can hear what can only be described a a creaking noise behind my RNS 510 somewhere. The only thoughts i have are that the wiring behind it is rubbing against something, or the GPS has come loose and, again, is rubbing or flapping against something, can any of you boffins out there identify with either plse? I have (fingers crossed) solved all the other many rattles my GTi has had, solving this one would i hope make me a happier man.....
Many thanks in advance for any help given
Andrew

Bit of foam at the back does the trick(nearest the screen)

Thank you for this, and im sure i could perhaps get the cover off, but then it's getting satnav back in, then putting it all back together again that scares me!! Are you suggesting that the satnav wires or gps might be knocking against something??
Cheers

No not really when you take the top off the dash, whether its a tray for non climate of a grill for climate there is a small gap where most people put the magnetic mount GPS aerial on to a steel frame. Above this area can flex as its plastic and cause a rattle so some put foam under it. Getting to the RNS is only a 10 minute job needing only a screwdriver/torx and some trim removal tools/credit card. There are plenty of fitting guides on YouTube to show what bits could rattle.

Thanks for this, me thinks though i will ask somebody in the know (not me for sure) to do this, for a fee of course? Can i ask to all plse if there is anybody in the South Yorkshire area who (and name your price) could get rid of this rattle for me, which probably means taking my rns510 out, filling in area with some foam, etc perhaps and then installing the unit back in?
Many thanks in advance for any offers/information
Andrew
