Title: DSG Enquiry
Post by: pben47 on April 20, 2011, 11:34:16 am
Hi All,

took a Pirelli DSG for a test drive yesterday, car got stuck for some reason in second, couldn't budge it using paddles or tip tronic, it just sat in second.

Is this a usual occurence and just a simple software fault or does it sound like something a little more problematic.

At least I know it goes like stink in second.

Paul

Shouldnt stay in second, what gear box mode were you in?  If in S (Sport) then it will potentially hold the gear high through the rev range paddles should change it if they are connected and working (my car were un-connected when I got it).  Im assuming it eventually changed gear otherwise it would have been a short test drive?

As an example in S mode a GTI will be in 4th gear doing 70.

tried everything to make it change but it was stuck in 2nd, worked ok between 1st n 2nd but that was it. I understand what your saying about S mode and longer gears lol but it wasnt that at all. It was a very short test drive which miffed me off no end.

So i guess this is not a regular occurence, saleman was trying everything, but no luck, guess it's in their garage today, ready for the Easter rush.

I think i have only ever heard of this happening once, very unusual. I bet the dealer was  :ashamed:

Are you sure it wasnt a Herbie you took out and not a Pirelli.
