Whilst having a nice drive out in the sun today i do believe my air con compressor went BANG!as seen in the above pics it went everywhere!!!
has this happened to any body and why?will it be another expensive job, please advise :sad1
-
cant see any pics?
very strange for an aircon compresson to explode!
-
Hi sorry having problems inserting pics!can you help?
-
If the compressor went bang then it's not going to be cheap to get it properly repaired. :sad1:
-
Quite a common problem!
Mine's going in to the Stealers on Tuesday for aircon service as I'm not getting any cold air out whatsoever, just outside air temp when you turn the fans on. Hope to god my compressor aint goosed! Haven't heard a bang (yet). :scared:

I'm assuming the pulley has seized in the OP case...

it's the axle that seizes and the pulley continues to be driven.

Hi tried to post pics but having problems!if you look down on compressor from the front of the engine bay there is a large hole in the side of the compressor!there are metal filings spread all over this area and down side of car and wheels! :sad1:do you think this will be expensive to put Wright? :sad1:

That's a major accident you've had. You need a new pump, and be sure that the whole system get's cleaned for any metalshrapnels before fitting the new unit.
I have bought mine from this company, at 1/4 of the price from VW Denmark, this i would like to point out is a new unit and not a refurbed unit :happy2:
-
the unit to replace is near the £1000 mark when i had a squeak and the dealers thought it was the compressor but it turned out to be the aux belt
-
Hi if its not to much trouble could you forward me details of the company that you spoke of,thankyou for your help :sad1:

bugger!
-
Now that a seriously FUBAR'ed compressor :surprised:
-
Makes me glad my GTI is devoid of aircon!
-
Could do with a clean...
-
The engine bay certainly needed it after the compressor shot its load every where!
