Title: My Golf TDI Sport...
Post by: DanBoy on April 24, 2011, 11:44:17 am
Well thought I'd put up a few pics of my 07 Golf TDI Sport.

Would have loved a GTI but with the mileage I do I had to go diesel as my old Octavia vRS was getting a tad thirsty lol.

At the min its not much to look at but give it time and I should have it look good all being well.

Only mods so far have been the GTI headlights and my double din fitted.

Should be buying some 19 inch Neuspeed alloys for it next month

Welcome  :happy2:

Those factory seats are really cool. I think my mate has them in his 07 TDI S too, although I thought they were exclusive to the S model?
Having sat in most of the Mk5 TDI seats, I prefer those/the S seats by miles compared to the OEM GT TDI seats which seem to look and feel so dull.

Tbh it was the interior that made me buy it as I loved the seats, especially as on my old Vectra I spent arond 4k retrimming etc so wanted this one to have something I was happy with lol.

Main plans are 19's, lower it, bigger brakes, new front/rear bumpers, exhaust, skirts, remap etc those kind of things, it still looks fairly tidy for a car thats got 100k on the clocks too, still feels like new.

Well next month I'm gonna send the car to thge bodyshop to have the front end resprayed, so I've started buying up all the bits I need to put the GT front on it, inlcuding a new front panel as I know these are different to the standard models

Nice car man. I've just picked up a 2.0 TDI myself too. Great cars I say. quite liking your interior too. Mines is a GT Tdi so just the boring seats inside  Whats your plans engine-wise? Going for a remap anytime? I'm looking to head down the same route as you with the front bumper. Do you know the GTI and newer GT front bumpers are the same except the badges/grilles/etc obviously.

Its a bit more in depth to change the bumper sadly http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/157484.aspx

I'm looking at possibly having the shark remap for mine, but fairly happy with it so far

Nice start on the Golf, you don't hang around, eh? Very interested in this as its the identical route I wanna go down soon. GTI front bumper, half colour-coded rear gti valance with GTI pipes, colour-coded skirts, wheels are a must then finally, a decent drop.  :happy2:

Will be keeping an eye to see how you get on. Would be extremely useful if you could post up any part numbers you come across or use to order stuff.

Whats a golf sport, I thought they only did a GT Sport in the diesels.  It has a Golf S interior, a different colour centre console and no aircon.  What engine is it?  I do like the seats though.

Sport just refers to the trim, superior to S and SE. Just meant it came with a few extras over the S and SE eg the silver trim bits on the doors and glove box, sports seats, colour coded body bumpers, think it's slightly lower too but not sure...

Details can be found in here if you're interested:

Been a while since I was last on due illnesses and then losing interest in my car, but now trying to get myself back into it again lol.

Took my car to Jampsort Monday morning and had my car remapped, not the cheapest remap around but had the best gains etc so its now up another 50bhp which makes it around 190bhp with a shed load more torque, and I must say it really pulls and revs now, just need to start uprating some bits and bobs on the car and then I'll look at hybrid turbos and push that figure up even more.

A few pics from Monday.

Hybrid is just a hybrid turbo, places like Turbo Technics have developed a hybrid turbo for the BKD 2.0 TDI's which is good for upto 240bhp.

I'm guessing he has the ED30 front spoiler on his too, I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong lol.

I've not heard anything bad from the place that did my remap tbh, mines quite high mileage so if the turbo goes it goes  I'm planning on getting a hybrid one soon so its just an excuse lol.

Well yesterday I put my 16's back on as I'm gonna start slowly sorting things out and buying up bits and bobs ready for a mass fitting day lol.

My brakes have felt like they needed to be a little bit beefier so as I'm slightly on a budget I've purchased GTI front and rear calipers, think I need to get some new brake hoses and sheilds too but will get that sorted, just unsure what to do about discs and pads yet, whether to stick with standard or uprate.

Anyway heres a boring picture lol.

Braided Brake Lines are a good shout and available from www.brake-lines.co.uk  (http://www.brake-lines.co.uk) for mucho cheapness. Well that's where I got mine. Plenty choice of colours and good high quality stuff.  :happy2:

I have standard discs and pads in at the moment but will be heading for EBC Greenstuff Pads next. Much less dust and a good bite from them.  make sure you fit the anti-squeal shims, whatever pads you go for.

At the min I'll probably just go for the standard stuff as price wise through work I'm only paying £140 all round for decent quality discs and pads.

Just got sooo many things I want to do but no fundage lol.

Well its been a while since I was last on here, not much has happened on the car, it still looks standard, and it really needs a clean lol.

I had all the suspension replaced last month as I managed to pick up brand new koni 35mm springs and front and rear koni adjustable shocks for a bargain price.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fsaxovtrboy%2FGolf_TDI_Sport%2FDSC01014.jpg&hash=4e3fea65a7ab94449f2c75be2dd6ed208bd259bd)

I also managed to get the car on the rolling road in October so I could see what power it was putting out after its remap.

The results were 187 bhp and 352 lb/ft torque, so I'm pleased with that for now....

Did you buy shocks for a petrol?  Should be lower than that, are they adjustable.  I changed the springs on mine and it slammed it!

No all the items were for the diesel, the shocks are only adjustable for the ride, but I got all the suspension parts silly cheap anyway so if I end up changing the springs again its no major loss, will see better once I get the 18's back on the car.

Well I've just had my MOT today, luckily it passed but got an advisory on an oil leak which we need to find where its coming from as it seems to be leaking from somewhere onto the exhaust.
Title: Re: My Golf TDI Sport 187bhp 352lb/ft...
Post by: DanBoy on December 09, 2011, 11:43:47 am
Well the oil leak turned out to be nothing, just a sloppy oil change by the garage I bought the car from so we've clean up the mess and all is good.

Also starting to feel like I'm getting somewhere with this now, I've ordered 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 2 tyres so I can finally get my wheels back on the car and I took a trip to VW and bought a full set of wheel nut covers as all originals were discoloured from the previous owner using acidic wheel cleaner, but for a fiver I won't complain  :happy2:

Well at the min my car is currently sat broken in a garage with some odd ECU issue it would seem......

Last weekend I tried a plain slatted grille I bought for the car, I like how it looks but not overly happy with the fit as its right against the headlights.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fsaxovtrboy%2FGolf_TDI_Sport%2FDSC01082.jpg&hash=52063a6b73d7e5f2f733e332fb8232144f6dfb0b)

And today I had a little parcel arrive (the colour of them wasn't my choice as thats how they came)

Not too much happening with this at the min, gave the car its first wax of the year while the weather is good, just a shame it shows off all my scratches, marks, stone chips from 112k of use lol really need to get it painted at some point.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fsaxovtrboy%2FGolf_TDI_Sport%2FDSC01314.jpg&hash=bd9fab5609f3c55af431deb5699038c51a76e425)

Slightly pee'd off though as I found out today that the paint is coming off all my wheels after paying good money getting them refurbed end of last year so I'll be complaining tomorrow about that.

Not too much happening with this as I'm having to modify on a budget lol.

I complained about my wheels so they've had the car back and redone all 4 wheels so they are looking good again.

After letting go of my Porsche calipers I still needed to get my brakes sorted as the car was still on its original discs so as I'm on a budget I bought some front calipers off a member on here and bought new pads and some 312mm ATE Power discs and so far I'm happy with the results since they were fitted today.

A couple of weeks ago I changed my rear lights for some brand new R32 ones and also replaced the mirror indicators for some smoked ones (excuse the dirty car in the pics)

Yea the rear still seems a little high but its dropped a little bit over the old springs, I've got Koni adjustable shocks all round that I had fitted December last year, although still tempted with Bilstein B8's as had the H&R and B8 combo on my old Vectra C.

I'll be going back to Jamsport in Northampton as they did my original remap, it'll be having one of the Turbo Technics hybrids so hoping for another 50bhp and upto 400lb/ft torque.

Been a while since I last updated this, not really done much, my hybrid turbo is currently turned down boost wise as the stock intercooler is holding me back at the min so its only running 200bhp, but haven't the pennies yet to sort this as I moved out of the parents house last year so still getting used to bills lol.

Recently I've been looking into doing some OEM upgrades on the cheap, so I sold my Pioneer head unit as I wasn't using all the functions and bought a brand new DAB RCD510 and I've also installed the glovebox MDI kit so I can connect my ipod to it.

Today I ordered up the door lights as I missed having them after my old Skoda, just need to find someone locally who can programme in the light function ready for fitting.

Looks wise still looks the same bog standard ish.

Ok these forums are now getting very bad for my wallet lol, bought the front panel, cross member and bumper bracket for the front end conversion, dropped the bumper off to be painted then its just sourcing all the grilles, fogs and spoiler.

Not sure if the GTI honeycomb would suit my car or not as finding the GT items are proving very difficult.

The lower centre grille on mine is non genuine and fits perfect, Only thing with the jetta style ones is that the chrome strips arent attatched very well so I went for genuine ones. I'm assuming the GTI style ones won't be too bad of a fit.

Also had my GT grille arrive which I've seperated and stripped so it can be painted possibly in anthracite as a contrast to the black.

I just need to stay away from ebay now as I've just bought all the lower grilles and I should have my brand new fog lights arriving tomorrow so all thats left to buy at some point is the lower spoiler  :happy2:

Getting there now...

Grille surround is currently being painted and the lower grilles should be with me anytime now, just need to find a lower spoiler then I'm good to go  :happy2:

Bit of a naff pic but its near enough complete, grille cover is just being painted and I've bought a cheap aftermarket spoiler to do for now.

As I've got this week off I'm gonna see if my friendly garage will bolt it all on for me, then I can sell all the old bits and get some pennies back.

4 screws in each liner, 4 or more underneath, 2 at the very front under the grille and the grille itself

I was the same about doing it all myself, In the end i just went for it and it all worked out fine. Just take your time and put ome masking tape on the wings so you don't scratch them.

Just been to work to collect everything ready for Sunday, my cheap £16 aftermarket GT spoiler turned up too and that actually fits rather well. The bumper isn't perfect but meh it'll do for now as I'll be needing a respray in the future anyway, main thing is to get it all fitted and go from there....

The spoiler is just the one fitted on the bumper, standard GT black plastic one.
