Title: WOT box
Post by: TrickGTI on April 24, 2011, 12:40:43 pm
well as i think everyone else does i like the idea of this  but i cant think if it will really do any damage to your car i cant see how it can put all its doing is creating a small missfire and this video iv just found sort of proves it.... and the car must just get confused and think its got a missfire look at the rev counter just above it the engine light starts flashing when he does it

is it harmfull???

It wont be hard on the engine as such revving it upto an artificial limiter lower than the sandard rev limit but......the launch and quick gearchanges thereafter are BRUTAL. I believe over time it will have a negative effect on the coilpacks and spark plugs as its pretty harsh cutting the spark like that, especially if your just doing it in the local pub car park for banter!  :signLOL:

Pretty cool noise and probably a cool thing if your hardocre about quarter mile runs but little or no use if not.

I don't understand what is it doing except misfiring, which surely will burn your valves out!!!

What is it supposed to do?

I forgot to add maybe a little extra damage over time with excess fuel being pumped in.

It allows you to keep WOT and change gear at the same time. It cuts ignition to allow this. hardwarerequirement is no cat as it will get fried by the unburnt fuel that will pass the cylinder to the hot exhaust and ignite there instead.
Sort of the car equivalant to a quickshifter on a bike, which cuts ignition when a sensor feels you engaging the gearlever with your foot.  :star:

Heard them using this on the gp bikes couple of weeks ago, loved it. I want one and need a uk supplier.

Sounds like your asking for trouble with that.

Ive fitted a few of these and they are amazing.  The wot feels great.  Really speeds up changes and holds boost between changes too.

I do thing they can kill clutches and gearboxes rapidly, but not that harsh on engines.  The missfire detection will only come up after a certain period of misfires so just dont hold the launch control on for too long.

If you combine the wot box with the racelogic traction control then you are on to a winner.

As said the wot changes can be harsh on the transmission components.

Also the launch control is a good way of decatting your car due to the turbo and exhaust getting very hot so I would exercise caution on how long you leave the car popping and banging for!

They are quite impressive for what they are though.
