Thinking of stepping up a notch with the front brakes. Iv found that at high speeds, the standard brakes just dont cut it.
So I'm looking at the bigger oem brakes ie s3/r32 345mm, but are they going to be much different than what I have??
Can anyone who has done the upgrade comment on the difference?? Is it a worth while mod.
Cheets guys

Short answer... Yes it is worth it and a very noticeable increase in stopping power!
-
What sort of brake pad is best?? Oem

Depends what your gonna be doing, fast road or track etc. Ive only had the OEM pads so cannot comment!
-
If your doing road driving then unless you driving like a tit or don't know how to drive properly then OEM pads will be fine for the road.
Never used mine on a track but I know some people like to use stuff like DS2500's or such like.
I was always sceptical of them till I got mine but they really are a great upgrade. Can sometimes be a bit snatchy at low speeds but I jut learned to alter my braking style to accommodate this.

It is a worth mod and you will notice the difference

yes 100% worth while mod, I belive john-tfsi has a set for sale in the sales area for £350 cheap enough .
if you are really keen there is a set off rears for £150/160 as well albeit blue..
If you are a fussy so and so both sets could be refurbished for very sensible money and will come back to you like new, Sell your old set and recover some money imho it doesnt get much better

Another thumbs up from me :happy2:
They are a great upgrade and so they should be as they are used on the Passat R36 as well I believe?

Just upgraded mine to S3 setup and definetly makes a noticable difference as got into habit of breaking late and with my previous other car having 6 pot calipers with 380mm discs hence found the brakes on the golf a bit tame but sufficient for the car but not my driving habits..
so definetly would recommend and Jon's price is a bargain

Cheers for the replies guys.
Another thing is the brakes hoses. I know they need to be longer so would I just need to buy s3 or r32 hoses. Will they be a straight swap?

You will need R32 hoses or braided lines! They are a straight swap, providing you have the Z pipe on the back of your calipers. If this part is missing youll need to get some from the dealer.
