Hi guys, I have an EOS, not a golf but the members knowledge here is superb. I have a question if anyone can help please.
I am looking to upgrade my Instrument cluster, but I'm not sure which part to buy. I want full access to the convenience menus and display of NAV data from the RNS510 and also Bluetooth integration when installed.
My local VW dealer looked on his computer and told me I have a 1Q0 920 954 GX Z02 fitted and that I need a 1Q0 920 964 AX Z02 for the large display and functionality.
I have looked on my copy of ETKA 7.1 and the current part is listed as "dash panel insert for vehicles without multi-function indicator". (although I do have a basic Multi function system operated from the wiper stalk. (On board computer). Is that the same as the multi function indicator or just classed as an on board computer?
The part recommended is listed as "dash panel insert for vehicles with multi function indicator". (Model PR-9Q1, which means "Multi-function display/on-board computer")
I have also found 1Q0 920 074 AX Z02, which is the same as the 964 AX version except Model Pr-9Q5, which means "Multi-function display with control")
All this terminology is confusing me (not difficult), so I was looking for a definitive explanation of what I need please.
Regards
Pete

the dealer is giving you the wrong part number
all EOS cars had a trip computer
so the lowline part number 954 is wrong
You probably have the midline 964, so the right one would end 974
To get the convenience options in the highline would also require you to have a MAX CCM
-
Thanks, I suspected something might be wrong.
BTW what is a MAX CCM. Is that the Central Electronic Control Module?
-
The CCM controls the locking of the doors and the alarm
If you want to change the locking set up or have Rain Closing then you will need a max CCM
You will still have the Lights and Vision option which in the CECM

Just amazes me how useless some dealers are......
I'd check with your local dealers/vw specialists about the cluster swap first to make sure they are willing to do it....
-
Thanks for the info Eddie, maybe I won't bother with the locking options. I want the display primarily for the NAV and the Bluetooth. Maybe update it later.
With regard to the Midline. I have yet to find a definitive explanation as to what is the difference between, lowline, Midline and Highline.
The display type I want is

The one I have looks like

Any info would help

Have a look at this, I plan on doing the same as I may be buying a car which has midline
-
As Eddie said you have midline. Lowline looks the same but has no trip computer ect (Eos never had these)
Top pic is highline.
EDIT- £510!!! I bought and fitted my highline for £150 :signLOL:
-
In have seen them but after adding VAT it all seems a little expensive. I was hoping to buy the dash and get someone local to code it for me. I have already bought a steering wheel, RNS 510 and am planning on getting a VW BT, and I would like them all coding together.
-
Thanks Apollo. £150 quid, wow. Was that second hand. Thought there was a problem setting the mileage on a second hand unit, whereas a new unit is more simple. Any tips. Where did you get it from, EBAY?, or a breaker?

Coding a cluster is not as straight forward as retrofitting other parts (unless your car is pre late 2005 or you have the skc code for the new cluster)
You need specialist equipment to copy the immobiliser info over to the new cluster.
TBH you'll need to go to someone like hazzydayz or find a dealer that is willing to do the swap as your car is later than late 2005.
-
only older cars have dash pods that can be done by forum members, as you need your code and the code of the cluster to be fitted. (although if you buy a new cluster it will come with the code)
-
What determines an older cluster. As mentioned mine is 965 AX?
-
Last number before the letters.
Only cluster ending in 970,971,972 can be done easily.

this is interesting, as your part number is very new
I will give you 2 options
1Q0 920 975AX standard Highline
1Q0 920 985AX premium Colour Highline
Try and find a dealer to do the swap as your car is nearly new
-
Sorry I meant 964 AX. The car is a 2008 EOS 2.0 TDI in MPH. Typo.

Another question for the VCDS experts please.
I have done a scan on my car and I have this CAN gateway
Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 1K0-907-530.lbl
Control Module Part Number: 1K0 907 530 P HW: 1K0 907 951
Component and/or Version: J533__Gateway H16 0191
Software Coding: E9A07F264002025001
Work Shop Code: WSC 00014 210 60596
VCID: 346C0054686179BC
According to the Ross Tech wiki (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Navigation_System_(RNS510)_Retrofitting (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Navigation_System_(RNS510)_Retrofitting)) the RNS-510 is incompatible. I do get some strange codes but the unit seems to work perfectly well, even with the bluetooth that just plugged in and worked first time.
Does anyone know what it means by incompatible
I didn't code the bluetooth or the CAN gateway but it just worked with the RNS510. Very impressed. I don't have the Big display yet though, so maybe it means integration with that!!!!
I may not go for the new dash as I think I will need a new steering controller as well.
I have
Address 16: Steering wheel Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
Control Module Part Number: 1K0 953 549 BF HW: 1K0 953 549 BF
Component and/or Version: J0527 051 0100
Software Coding: 0000041
Work Shop Code: WSC 00014 210 00889
VCID: 77F6F758399752A4
which is a midline one. I'm guessing the radio buttons will work on the MFSW (when I fit it) but I'm not sure whether the steering controls will operate the computer.
Too many ifs and buts I know.
