Title: Black Golf, white wheels?
Post by: gtry on April 25, 2011, 08:24:41 pm
Your thoughts? I've got original 17's on my black Golf GTi and want to try something a bit different but am sceptical as to how they will turn out.

Seen a few CTR with this but you maybe hampered by the 17's, 18's look far better with the diamond cut the 17's look like run of the mill alloys and may not carry of the colour.

Ah I see what you mean. Do you think it would be worth the gamble?

Sorry not for me. My daughter has a citroen c2 in black you can get white alloys for that. the red and white goes ok but the black and white i am struggling with so i am still looking for a set of alloys for her car. but everybody is different.

I think a multi-spoke "motorsport look" wheel, like TD Pro Race 1.2s, could look great, but the rest of the car would have to be up to it i.e nice and low!

I'm not convinced white 17s would look great though.

These would look great on a black 3 door imo

Yeah I tend to agree thinking again.  I like the multi spoke but want to stay as standard as possible with suspension after my old Polo was -90mm and I'm enjoying the fact that I can park up curbs now and not have to plan my journey to avoid speed bumps!

A dark red, perhaps.

White rims will work but they'll be a PITA to keep white, and that's the only way they'll look good.

^^Del Boy your car looks the dangles though,

IMO though it does depend on what wheels they are?  A fuller face wheel will look better than say a thin spoke i.e something like TD 1.2 look good in what but maybe the RS4 reps wouldn't look has good

thank you darren

on a car with normal ride height  lol i would have full faced wheels, a thin spoked wheel will look lost in the mk5 big arches.

17" wont be great IMHO either, more tyre than wheel and with the wheels being white, you'll loose focus on them with monster truck tyres

I had White wheels as standard on my old civic and they were a nightmare to keep clean. :scared: honestly, they are dirty within 5 miles
