Title: Exhaust light on dash?

I have epc light on dash and also the exhaust light is up

I ran my diagnostics on it and brought up p0601...engine control module, check sum error?

I also had p0441...evap system, incorrect flow.

I noticed the car was not boosting properly so purchased a forge recirculating valve. I have plugged it back in to the computer and now only lists the 1 fault...p0601, but the exhaust light still comes back on 1hr after switching it off?

Any ideas?

The other thing i would like to know is a valve on the front of the engine ticks quite loudly, what is this valve (see pic)
