Hey guys, have just noticed a slight ticking noise when the car is in idel, as soon as i apply a tiny bit of power the noise goes, it also doesnt seem to appear all the time, will stop at one set of traffic lights and its there, stop at the next and its gone?!
Sound like its coming from just beyong the steering wheel but its always hard to tell? anyone know what this could be?
Thanks

The 2.0T FSI engine is well known for its ticky / diesel sound at idle, mine is quite ticky and has been for 3 years. Apparently its something to do with the belts. I've had cambelts and waterpumps all replaced in the time Ive owned the car and it still sounds the same, its just something I've come to live with now. Milltek helps it sound less as you can hear the exhaust more now.

If you have the stereo off or quiet then you can hear the computers "talking" to each other they click and then another one in the dash somewhere will click. Well I assume its not just my car that does this, could also be motors for the climate.

Mine does this. 'Chatters' to keep the auto climate balanced.

i dont think its anything to do with the climate control, this is something different........
i think ive just located the location of the noise, was coming from the footwell and so i put my ear to the floor mats and thats where the noise was its loudest?? what could it be down there?

Possibly the fuel lines and you can hear the fuel being sucked through at high pressure?

Mine makes the same "Diesel" injection noises and I dont have any aircon or climate in my car so im guessing its just noisy fuel rails or typical tfsi noise!

ive been having the same problem :fighting:, but only noticed it acouple of weeks ago. so i went straight down to the stealers where they said its very common with the mk5 . the technician just said deal with it but in a polite way
