Hola amigos y warm regards from Altea on the sunny Costa Blanca. In some ways i cannot believe i am writing this as i have just waved goodbye to my cherished Corrado VR6 auto after 3 years of gas guzzling heaven but its time to move into the 21st century and a 2006 GTI DSG is the diesel juniors new chariot and after fully ten mins i am smitten :happy2:. This looks a great forum and i cant wait to get onto it, the Corrado.net forum is superb an absolute mine of info and i will miss the folks there. Ever since seeing my neighbours Mark I back in 1983 i have hankered after one of these and now i have one sitting safe and sound in the garage. Tomorrow it will receive a shock as a full valethon is on the cards, the Meg clay bar, DA orbiter polisher and Autoglym are fired up and ready to go and i guarantee that the tail pipe will be getting the full treatment as well (see last picture - if it loads OK!!). The car has 110k km, full history and i love it, i would start the clean up operation right now but there is a big game of football on tonight and Spain has shut down for it!!

Welcome along mate :) , want 1of those dsg badges ?
-
Hi and welcome.
Surprised you're using WD40 - I'd have thought a metal polish would be better. WD40 can be used to shift the grease.
-
Hi there, well WD40 worked wonders on the Corrado tailpipe (still original at 17 years......) but has met its Waterloo on this one, kind neighbour has returned my Sidol (Brasso) so will try again tomorrow with a wire head on the Black & Decker, failure just not an oprion on this one.........

Welcome to the forum mate :pomppomp:

Thanks, i loved my VR6 (if not the 18 mpg and the bills of the last 6 months) but this Golf is blowing me away. Its just so much more up to date (obviously......) but the difference in the brakes, transmission power delivery etc, is enormous, timing belt and water pump on Tuesday......
-
Hi and Welcome along.... :driver:

Thanks! Just got it back after a day and a half at the local garage, they did water pump, two belts, rollers, coolant flush and refill of G12 for €530 which is about right. The old belts were not too bad (100,000km) but the water pump impellers had seen better days, feel happier accelerating now!

Welcome. Great car!

Hi & welcome mate
The cars looking great :happy2:

Hi folks, greetings from sunny Spain. Attacked the car with Meg clay bar then double dose of AG and Halfords machine polisher and am really pleased with the results! Wheels have been shot blasted and repainted now its time to get rid of the blue post box in the dashboard (aka RCD 300) and an MFD2 is en route. The tartan seats didnt do it for my spine so a Golf sportline was raided in a Valencia scrappy (although leather is the target here......)
