Title: Would this work? - R32 Rear Bumper Split?
Post by: Betty02 on April 28, 2011, 08:49:09 am
Found a guy locally who is selling a cheapish damaged R32 rear bumper, all original VW and in silver too.

The top half is damaged but the bottom where it splits is fine, am I able to split the bumper and put the lower half of it onto my GTi bumper? Will be be a straight fit?

The bit in red is the bit I want on rear bumper, and the bits of blue are where the damage is.

I'm 99% sure that the top part of the bumper, where you've indicated in blue, is the same as the gti one. So what your doing is fine. I'll be doing the same eventually.  :happy2:

No worries. If for any reason it doesnt work out, you can always sell it on and make a pretty penny

It's just the price really, hard when I'm saving for a house too lol, looking into the blue flame r32 look back box's only? Don't really want it loud so can't see a BB making huge amounts of difference.

If you do decide to get a milltek one then make sure you specify that you want the shallow backbox one, as the standard one looks gash and hangs down miles below the rear bumper n

Does having a shallow backbox adversly effect anything? Sound, performance?

Don't think it will effect it.
I have a pipeworx exhaust and it does not even have a backbox,  :surprised:

The milly R32 look alike back box is pance, full stop. get a custom one or a Blueflame or the one that Al has, the Milly has an enormous back box, that just isn't required.  :chicken:
