Title: RCD300 Mp3 Colour?

Hi All, I have the above in my R32, 57 plate which has a black dash. When I purchased the car it had an aftermarket h/u and I got the dealer to change it and add I pod cable to glovebox.

The first unit didn't work but seemed black and to match my dash. The replacement works but seems to be grey and a shade or so different. My question is are there different colours and if so does anyone know the part no.s as its driving me crazy! and I need to sort / swap it.

All units are the later silver button mp3 h/u.

I think it's because of the earlier cars having a grey-ish colour interior and the later ones having more of a black interior.

I *think* (though am not sure) that the black ones have something like 1QB to denote it's a black and not a grey version, or something to that effect.

I think it's because the material changed somewhere along the life cycle, it went from a black matte finish to a grey one. Something to do with perfumes spilling on the material and causing it to bubble and peel off.

I had to replace the top half of my dash and it's a different material to the lower half (the older one is no longer available even though most MK5s have the older one).

Its difficult to differentiate which one is actually black though or for my 57 car? Anyone got access to confirm no.s?

AD should in theory be the most recent version but I'm sure someone will come along and correct me.  :grin:

RCD 300 Sat on my bookcase ends in P/No AD and the facia is black manufactured 10/08. Came out Golf GTI on a 2010 plate( old stock)

I am in Ireland but cant sell it incase I need to return the car to standard I am afraid.
