Guys,
I'm sure that a lot of you have your opinions on this
I'm not talking about accelerating till you see your speedo hit 60, cause as far as I'm concerned that's about 56-57mph?
apollo13 (on this forum) and I plugged in the VAG cable/software and you have a 0-60 test option on there. On the few runs we did (before they kicked us out of Bluewater shopping centre) :signLOL: he said I was changing gear at around 57mph (looking at his laptop), but I know my speedo was 60 or just over, so this slowed my time down when changing.
So what I really want to know is can we hit 60 in 2nd gear (in other words carry on until around 63-64 on the speedo before changing), and are you sure it's safe to do so?? :scared:

From memory i'm sure max in second is 59mph.

Now that would be ridiculous :signLOL:
You would have thought they would have designed it to squeeze an extra 1mph

Makes no difference if you have a dsg box...

Mmmmm, the DSG box would still need to change.....albeit a bit quicker

Maybe you're thinking too much of 0-60 times, they rarely mean anything in real life or on track (apart from grid starts but again, I don't think you'd do those in a road car). In gear acceleration is important and this is where the GTI is good.
