Title: Spare Gearbox?
Post by: berg on May 02, 2011, 05:59:41 pm
Hi guys,

next year/when my clutch starts to slip am putting a Quaife and a Sachs in the Eddie at Statllers.

Now is it sensible to put the oem clutch and diff in a spare gearbox so can put car back to oem if want to sell and can then either but lsd/sachs on a newer, different ED30 or sell separately?

If so, where would one go about getting a spare gearbox? Would I need to scour breakers for a cat c/d write off?

Any thoughts/advice appreciated from people who have gne down same route.

Clutch is fitted to the flywheel (engine side) and diff isnt much work to swap if needed, easier than fitting a whole different g. Box anyway.

I agree, just keep the OEM diff and swap it out when you come to sell. The manual is easy to swap compared to the DSG :scared:
