Title: Help with DSG Paddle Shift Steering wheel
Post by: rachel on May 03, 2011, 08:03:15 am
Hey guys, i'm looking to fit a DSG paddle shift MFSW onto my 55 plate 140 GT TDI... Currently it just has a normal leather wheel with no functions on it....

I've been looking for the wheel first of all, and spotted this one:
http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Golf-V-Eos-Lenkrad-Lederlenkrad-Multifunktion-DSG-/400212141658?pt=Autoteile_Zubehör&hash=item5d2e80a65a#ht_1454wt_1141 (http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Golf-V-Eos-Lenkrad-Lederlenkrad-Multifunktion-DSG-/400212141658?pt=Autoteile_Zubehör&hash=item5d2e80a65a#ht_1454wt_1141)

could anyone with ETKA (or indeed anyone with just the knowledge) let me know if this will fit ok? he lists the part number, and sez its originally of a 1.4 tsi touran

Many thanks
Rachel

The forum software sometimes gets a little upset if there are links in a post.

Yes the wheel linked will fit fine, just re-use your existing airbag.

You'll need a new airbag loom and highline steering controller to get the paddles/buttons to work  :happy2:

Hey thanks for helping out :)

I think eddieNL said he had a highline steering wheel modual - but I still need to find the airbag loom... Is this difficult to fit??

dead easy it just plugs into the controoler box for the buttons and airbag and the connection on to the slip ring, you will already have one for the airbag you just need one with an extra flying lead to link up the buttons think in the £20-30 region.

so i'm guessing its just something i get from the dealer rather than waiting for a secondhand one to come up

They are about £30 - £40 from the dealer for the loom
2nd hand about £15 - £25, shame as I had one not long ago for sale.

in that case i'll wait around for a secondhand one then :) cause i also need to sort out that controller box too yet
