Title: Woking mini meet
Post by: Richn83 on May 03, 2011, 12:58:58 pm
Following on from a discussion in another thread and in addition to the Jekly and Hyde meet myself and Animal are up for a mini meet in Woking, Animal has suggested the top of a multi-storey for some photography, if your local and interested then put your name down and we will see when suits and where.  :drinking:

1. Richn83
2. Animal
3. ?

I wont be able to do tonight or tomorrow Dan and was thinking next week you will have to get the car down another time.

Shall we aim for one evening next week?  I have to get back from London so cant do too early would have to be after 7.

I'm rarely home before 7 myself and I'm fairly flexible as to what night we meet. Car park I had in mind was Toys'R'us/Peacocks although I forgot they've put up fencing now to stop the jumpers which might not make for an attractive back drop. If I get the chance, I'll recce over the weekend.

Never been right to the top in the peacocks there is a great parking space on the 3rd floor with lots of space and only one other car next to it so I always bee line for that one  Let us know the findings and I reckon make it 8 to allow for some grub (should still have plenty of light) and maybe Wednesday next week?

Oh just remembered this meet is happening next week. http://www.surrey-dubs.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=showsmeetsandotherevents&thread=109

Would rather meet up with a few of you from the mk5 forum but if we met at the surrey dubs meet that could be good.

No reason why we couldn't convoy over there and take a look? My only issue is that you always get morons at events like those that give the rest of us a bad name.

Yeah potentially interesting to have a look as Animal said but the organisers last post worries me that there could be some silly behaviour, have you met up with those guys before Bendy?

I agree with meets like that there is likely to be a few idiots lol. Not met up with them before, they are a very new club, this is going to be their first meet.

Convoy over there would be good, could maybe park a little bit away from the rest so we dont have to get too involved and can leave if we need to.

Sounds like a plan if everyone is happy with it, shall we meet in a car park in woking first one wihtout barriers so it will be free to enter meet and then head off plus with the R's should give good sound, maybe Heath side crescent could meet on the top if weather is good as its open air.

Shall we make it 8pm at the Heathside crescent car park, if the weather is good on the top level for a good oppotunity for some sunshine photos or under cover if the weather is rubbish and we can decide if we want to make our way over to the Tesco car park for surrey Dubs if we want. by the time we turn up it should be obvious if we want to get involved or move on somewhere else.

Would be good to meet you and see the car Rich if you can come, the plan was suggested to make way up to Byfleet think Tesco where Surrey Dub is having a meet not sure if that would be easier for you coming over from Harrow.

^^^ nice pub with decent car park and beer garden ? How about the old "Muddy Duck" out near effingham that's a nice pub in the country side and nearish to Woking ?
Title: Re: Woking mini meet

You could go to The Red Lion in Horsell village, quite a large car park and good food too!
Title: Re: Woking mini meet
Post by: Richn83 on May 12, 2011, 11:43:16 am
Pub with beer garden would be nice especially if said beer garden is next to car park so we can still oggle the cars.

Post by: WhiteGTI on May 12, 2011, 11:50:08 am
Yup - it's got that too! The beer garden is adjacent to the car park, but there are bushes in the way to block your view i think!

Pretty sure the Muddy Duck is an open car park.......

LOL! I can't say it on here, you're gunna have to google it and find the urbandictionary.com definition hahaha!

Ahh yes, the Black Swan is a lovely place! Used to be a really popular hang out for bikers, but i think new owners took over and practically barred all the bikers who used to congregate there!

How did you know what that was, do you have experience??

Well lets aim for one next month not to clash with the JnH meet if that goes ahead if the weathers nice then Black Swan Bear garden if its rubbish then under-cover in a car park for a chat or scrap it till the weather improves

Think we are alrady etting alot more interest  :happy2:

Chaps, really sorry to have fallen off this thread... I've been really snowed at work and completely forgot. R is in the body shop again too, which I completely forgot about as well.

Black Swan in nice enough, we've been looking at houses Effingham way, some brilliant road around the neck of the woods. Lotus test their cars around there too which is good enough for me! Not keen on the Red Lion myself though...

Another very decent alternative, closer to home, with a huge car park and outside tables by the Wey Navigation is The Anchor

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF8&q=the+anchor+pyrford&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=the+anchor&hnear=Pyrford,+Woking&cid=10148729123206343928&z=14 (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF8&q=the+anchor+pyrford&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=the+anchor&hnear=Pyrford,+Woking&cid=10148729123206343928&z=14)

Used to meet here with an old car club, so can vouch for the space and quality of the pub. Access is good too, either from Woking or the A3.
