Title: Exhausts
Post by: oldtomo on March 10, 2009, 08:00:42 am
Morning all,

What does a turbo back exhaust do differently to a sports exhaust system to warrant it being nearly twice the price?

Cheers,

Sports will just be a cat back system I would think and turbo back is all the exhaust with a sports cat

Hi mate,

when you say cat back you mean...  :ashamed:

So the turbo back is literally everything? All the parts you could need? Is there any difference in performance?

Cheers

Cat back is as it says catalitic convertor back , so u get everything after the cat and the gains are bigger with a full exhaust

A turbo back will consist of a sport downpipe (normally of a greater bore to the standard system), a sports catalytic convertor (less cells which allows for more air to pass through), and then also the cat-back system, which is basically some more metal piping, the backbox and the tailpipes.

Cat back will provide increased noise but little power increase / if any.

Turbo-back will sometimes provide slightyyyy more noise than a cat back, but performance gains will be apparent also!

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies  :happy2:

I have been quoted £1240 (inc VAT) for a turbo back - does this seem like a fair price?

What performance gains will it achieve?

Cheers

For which exhaust may I ask?? It does sound on the expensive side. IMO you should be looking at around 1050-1150 incl. VAT and fitting, for a new turbo-back from a reputable tuner.

Yeah i thought it was a touch expensive too!

I think it is for a Milltek system but i have asked and i am just waiting to hear back now..

Also asked Awesome. They are 3 hours away for me but i hear nothing but good things  Plus if they are currently holding a deal on exhausts  :jumping:

JKM in Portsmouth are much closer to me so i may try them as well!

Thanks everyone for your help!

If Croydon is local to you, then also it may be worth giving Tuningwerkes a ring.

JKM are also good.

I swapped my milltek full system for a blueflame one. They are doing an offer £768 for a full system fitted :happy2:. See the special offers/discounts section of the forum
