whats the best way to get some extra power? just a simple re-map?
i use midlands vw for all my servicing and the do one for £350ish, should i just go with this? as there are loads of ppl offering basic re-maps.
don't have £1000's to spend.

I had my old 04 GT TDI remapped, transformed the car!
Best bang for buck out there by far.........
Matt

Remap is the best bang for your buck, all the other options from my research don't offer any of the gains they would on a petrol car. i.e intake, intercooler and de-cat down pipe.
-
A remap is the best bet..a decat does help as it makes the engine rev a lot easier
-
De-cat is the only mod that i've read will give some difference. no real headline gains but better, easier and earlier spooling of the turbo so im guessing low down torque.
Does anyone run a de-cat with Revo software? does it run fine? CEL? De-cat is the only other option ive looked at other than to start saving for a GTI for my power needs. :happy2:

i have a full non res milltek turbo back on mine but with a r-tech map and the turbo does give more low down torque,...but the sound is just amazing

More low down torque is good!
I take it r-tech had to map out the CEL from deleting the cat?
-
awesome gti put the milly on mine and no check light was on when they finished it,then couple of weeks later took it to r-tech.Mine is a 54 plate maybe as its a older model with out the dmf filter fitted from new the light didn't come on
-
loads out there that do it......
but are most pretty much the same? they all remap giving best power, fuel gain etc?
Told to stay away from some......!!
Was just going to use Midlands VW Cannock (Guy callled Jodie)

I'm not sure what the deal is with mine. I presumed (it looks wrongly) that like a petrol car that when you remove the cat you will get a CEL from a lambda senor measuring the extra flow as a bust cat. Do the diesels not have the lambda? I've never looked under the car myself.

Looking at their website they use Custom Code. They seem to have a good rep so i'd go for it! You wont regret it!

For the diesel maxitrol, would you recommend getting non res or res? I'm looking to get the millitek catback on my 1.9tdi but I'm torn between res and non res.
Do you by any chance have a video demonstrating the sound of yours?
-
go for the non res--at cruise speed ie the motor way youcan't hear any thing from the exhaust until you put your foot down, its not loud in the car either just the sound is amazing ..the diesel don't have a lamber or mine didn't

Nice, I was tempted for non res due to the extra cost of getting res! Is it loud for say, driving through villages at 30? I'm not looking to be hated and I'm not one to appreciate the saxo type spastics with exhausts louder than 747's
-
its as quite as a oem exhaust just driving normal..even when you put your foot down its not loud--if your going to the rs meet in Leeds on the 21st may and i get my car back(getting new turbo fitted) i will take you for a spin

Alright man, appreciate it. Yeah I'll probably turn up to RST meet without a run just for the event. Hopefully your turbo fitting goes good! :)

going in on monday to get done so hopefully resolve the smoking issue when driving around town i have had with it :happy2:
