Starting to get there...by the time I'm due for a change these should be in reach.

When you do a search for a mk6 GTD, the prices from Vw are similar to that R! :surprised:

I thought you ordered a RS3 ?

I would love an RS3 but got to be practical in this world now - saying that I dont really need an R

I did.....then found out last month it would be next year before it would "probably" arrive.

I'm still on the hunt for the right car. :happy2:

A few months ago there were a few (and I mean just a few) Rs in pretty much basic spec in VW dealers for around the £25-26k mark. They seem to have risen in price now the launch VW demo models have been sold and there is scant supply of new ones. So a good place to put your money if you jump out quick at the right time.
The one above would be a good buy as it has the right spec and colour at the right price. I wonder what VW have offered him to buy the car outright though, I'll bet it's a pretty crap price if he's offering it at £27k.

^^^^^ My guess would be that he is selling just over the VW trade-in price.

i'm also not completely sold either, not sure i would see one as a huge step up from a stg 2+ ED30 because ok the traction will be better but the extra weight and transmission losses mean that I think i would skip the R and the S3 and save for a RS3 for say 2014-2015 or an M3, WRX Sti etc (when petrol will be  :rolleye:)

Not kept it long, I wonder what he's getting next? RB, more door, cloth seats and 19s would be my ideal spec, shame about the gearbox.

No transmission loss on a car which is predominantly fwd  :happy2: With regards to weight, if both cars were 300bhp you are talking a BHP/weight ratio difference of around 20bhp/ton. Can the only fwd ed30 put the extra 20bhp down in 1st or 2nd gear, i would argue the added weight of the R would be negated by the extra traction from low speeds. Only at higher rolling speeds would the fwd car come into its own.

Not sure about you but i spend most of my time between 10-30 mph so the extra traction suits my driving needs more than fwd.
