You have to change the boot struts, pins and stoppers. You'll also need the boot pop enabled with vcds!

arr right not sure if it hasnt worked at all would it normally just pop open and remain a jar.  where can you get the gear to make it happen.

But my main consern is that the button on the fob doesnt do anything is this just something that is there but not activated or a fault

Thanks

Aled

you have to press and hold the boot button to make it operate, a single press wont do anything.

To do the pop you need the following parts!

2 x 6Y0 827 550 C (Skoda Fabia gas springs)
2 x 1K8 827 761 C (Scirocco bumpers)
2 x 1J6 827 439 A (Seat Leon ball pins)

Just been out to it beeing a bit dim really :signLOL:, if i hold it it only just unlocks the boot but soon after i close it locks so it does work but if i put all that gear on it will it pop open or have you got to get a diffrent lock that flicks open

In case it's not clear, the standard set up means you have to press and hold the boot remote for about a second.  Then you can open the boot (using the handle).  The rest of the doors remain locked.  Then, when you shut the bootlid, it automatically locks again.  It's handy when you've taken something big or heavy out, bu it's not as flash as a popper mod.

ye that is correct mate, just found that out only had the car just on a month now but thought i found everything out about it and the person before didn really know  :stupid: considering they paid 28,000 for it new  :scared:.

but ye i take it now that the boot poppin thing is a retro fit or did vw acctually do this on some cars as i am interested in havin it on mine as it would be handy plus look kinda cool but depending on the cost and effort to make it happen.

you need to fit all the bits Rich listed and then change the coding on the lock mechanism, it has two settings one to unlock but stay caught needing final release by the handle, the second allows full release so with the beefier struts the tailgate will open fully.

It was never standard in the UK as far as I know but the computer and mechanism is there as its a feature on othere VW cars and booted cars.

arr right so the lock only needs programing then if thats my understanding (correct if wrong ta) and just fit the parts as rich said.

Next question how and who can do the programeing  :happy2:

That's handy that one can buy the complete lot as a kit, although since its an American site it's easier if you have a skoda, seat and VW dealer in your nearest town..then you have all of the parts in the space of an hour

I fitted the required items and had the coding done, works faultlessly on warmer days, and opens fully on colder days if one of the other doors are already open (increses interior air pressure).
